<quoted text>The problem is the lie Obama told before the election about the cause being a you tube video. They told this lie for about 2 weeks. Now the average person who doesn't pay much attention believed the lie. The media did not cover the story or follow up on the cover up. I hate that the media is so bias. Do you see much difference in the BBC and SKY in their reporting. I remember when our friend in England didn't think we were in Baghdad because that is the way BBC reported it while we were watching it on TV. All I want is the truth out there

Check out www.schinpffs.com . I work with a lady whose daughter married into the family who owns the confectionery. I guess it's quite well known out that way.
Columbus is pretty much in the center of OH.

Good Friday to ya, Quinny! I see the connection of your interest, but no I don't know anything about it.

i just recently found out my grandfather was born in Austria and not Poland like we were told. in fact it was said his name was Anthony but it turned out his name was Antoni. so this explains why im always so confused! i dont know who the heck i am. lol
i googled his name and came onto that ancester site and got that little bit of info from that. im sure its him because the names of his children and spouse are the same, i was curious because i always thought i'd like to see Poland but didnt even know what area they were from (still don't of course) i find it all so interesting and would like to know more but im too cheap to spend the money on that site. lol
:)
Happy New Year Luke!

As long as your surname isn't Schickelgruber, you're probably safe!
In Germany,'von' originally was reserved for the Prussian minor aristocracy prior to the unification in January 1871. Given from then until the 1930s, the Prussians dominated the military and the civil service throughout the united country, geographically it spread beyond the original area. It also occurred amongst the Austrian nobility prior to its abolition in 1919. "Graf von" was higher, not sure where it went after than!
That's interesting.
It looks like it will be hard to tell ancestry's for sure.
Especially when about 4 generations ago they migrated from Europe.
Names got changed or made up most of the time.

I had the priveledge of working with both Austrians
and Germans when I appeared as an extra in the
Oberammergau Passion Play.
At first there was much 'clicking of heels' as we
stood in the wings waiting to go on stage...
Overcame that and became firm friends, in fact, we all cried on
the last night at having to part. No, I don't think it was out of
relief, hahaha
Little story. I was caught talking on stage and the producer sacked me.
There were Austrians, Germans, and English in the comapny.
Guess who came out in sympathy with me, and of course without them
the 'show' could not go on.
It was the Germans, the stars of the performance. Each and every
one refused to carry on until I was reinstated.
I apologised profusely to the producer in front of everybody to save his face, as after all he was right to take the stand he did, he then reinstated me. I will never forget that.
Thanks for sharing that life lesson {{{ Cuz El }}}

Hey Fish! I started a post and lost it! POOF!! A long one too. My interest in genealogy is limited. However, in 1970 my then 73 year old grandmother traced her and my grandfather's lines - Baumann/Quinn - back as far as the original tribes in Ireland. Not bad when all she had was a German Bible and Berlitz. The 'tree' was a Christmas gift to my mom and aunts and uncles.
Chicago is fortunate to have one of the largest collections of materials at the Newberry Library. It even offers free access to all of the websites you have to pay for when home.

Thanks for the link, I bookmarked it. Will probably have time this weekend to check it out, it's really storming now and is supposed to all weekend. The rain is needed though, the plants will be happy.
Do you have a lot of Irish?
Does that mean a lot of Catholics in your family?

The Brits on here will remember a little match in 1982 between ourselves and a South American country (recent release of cabinet papers shows that the USA even offered us an aircraft carrier for that one - much obliged fellas). The result then was UK 1, Argentina 0.

Now, in dire economic trouble again (as in 1982) the President of Argentina has decided to sabre-rattle about the Falklands again with a letter to Cameron demanding their return. A friend posted this on fb and felt it was worth sharing:

Good story. Did you do much acting?
I'm hesitant to say too much on Topix, but guess I'll take a risk. Since I'm talking about me,(I am actually the center of the universe- BTW - but my wife won't buy it), my grandma on the other side had 'Young' for a maiden name, so you and me might be related? She was a good Catholic. She was also very musical, so I think I might be related to Angus Young of ACDC. I know, he is an Australian, but, aren't all the Caucasian Australians descendents of convicts from the UK? LOL? Her brothers (from New York) did kind of look like Angus (I would not say she did! lol). They were outgoing and a little 'wild and crazy'- for 70 or 80 year olds.

The enumerator mispelt names and entered them on the census as
he heard them. In the case of mine coming to England, some of
the names were 'anglised' and the Irish surnames certainly were.
Have you looked at the Ellis Island website Fish?
You can find the ships your ancestors arrived on, descriptions of
your ancestors including eye colour, height, profession etc., down
to how much money they had upon arrival.

Yo, I too remember the '82 dust-up; and this week's BBC World News bit about the exchange between the Argentine Pres. and PM Cameron with a side of an opinion piece by the Latina and a Brit newspaper response (which I can't recall right now).

Jolly good show!

Coming in late this evening, just to pass on the
good news regarding MillyMolly really. Well, we
spent HOURS at the Vet's but she could not have
had better treatment...incidentally she is about
11 yrs of age, the nurse thought she was a kitten,
she is SO appealing. I voiced my concerns about
her permanently hovering over her drinking water,
we discussed what it may possibly be, Jim thoughts
on the matter in view of her age, is kidney probs,
although not advanced. I mumbled something about
'I was wondering diabetes' but he ruled that out
but spur of moment, did a blood test for her blood sugar, and lo and behold, no sign of diabetes, phew!
So it's tablets to help the kidney disorder..and he
wants to see her in a month's time....
Really appreciated your good wishes.
YAWN..... I was so Bored...
I knew just where to go...hahahahahahahahaha!!!!!
;o)

Hi Lady Eleanor... It's great to hear some good news when you have concerns over your pet.. Bless their little hearts They can't tell us how they feel and it takes someone with compassion to see that something is wrong.. You are certainly the one those furkids should be with.. and having a Vet who really cares is a blessing...
I'm glad that MillyMolly isn't diabetic.. that is so hard on an animal.. Humans included... I'll be overjoyed the day a cure is found... My Father was diabetic and I'm hypoglycemic... so that disease runs in our famiily..
I hope that you are having a great day today and I hope that no matter what you do you will enjoy yourself...
I'm talking myself into scrubbing down the bathroom... It Is Not my favorite household chore...hahahahaha
Sending you all of my best and warmest wishes....

think man! Foreign tragedy with Embassy and CIA fatalities. That is inherently a different standard than "almost anything else" because of national security issues.

Media didn't bury this during the election, either.

I remind you that YOU put on this very thread some crap about Libyans dragging Steven's body through the streets, and I called you on it with citations and content.

I hope by now you HAVE seen/heard the official police (CT state police) info made known by 3rd day after the massacre; probably on the 2nd day.

Droning on and on to balance each post of this imaginative Democrats/Obama bashing I won't do, to abide by my posts about 'horse beating'.

Our non-American friends should keep in mind where you're coming from, and that you don't speak for "us" -- "we Americans". Furthermore, "we" all are not necessarily confused by political systems and labels of other countries. "We" may not understand the nitty-gritty nuts and bolts of some machinations, but that doesn't make "us" confused. It just takes a bit of interest outside "our" little world.

I fell asleep while ago
and was thinking about what this year
has for us all.
and about the other years that have gone,
mysteriously to some secret place.

' 2013.. A brand New Year'

****

"In the dying days of December..

I crossed a bridge unknown

Away from where
I had previously been
into another [time] zone.

As I opened my door .
'HE' was standing there,
.. breathing silver mist in winter air

That snowy look about his face
A shimmer frost all thru'
HIS hair

'HE '' said >

'Tis a joy to meet you, my dear..

I AM 2013 - your brand New Year'

'Gifts I will bring .. along the way
You will come to know these
day by day.

And .. by far..
the greatest -
If it's mine to give
is the promise of..

ANOTHER YEAR TO LIVE'

I bowed my head,
I thanked 'HIM" kindly

As off I set, fumbling blindly ..

down the MYSTERIOUS road ..
once more

to learn

what the NEW YEAR holds in store "
