HAPPY NEW YEAR!
The very same wishes for the wonderful Mostess Hostess and Mr. P!

On the BBC World News service, I viewed the London New Years celebrations and so much fireworks! Stayed up to watch the ball drop at Times Square NYC, and the good time had by all.

Still a wintery wonderland here in middle-earth Indiana, Cuz Eleanor.

I'm embarrassed to write that I too was going to look up something -- dont' think it was animal-related though -- but got distracted by the TV content, and then completely blanked out on the nature of the quest!

Argggh... hope THAT'S not an omen!!??

:) just a Hoosier smile here. Buddy Guy's honor segment was special as well, I agree. Was entertained by Dave Letteman's one, but I missed those for Dustin Hoffman and that ballerina unfortunately.

While trying to remember what I was looking for via Wikipedia, this was "staring my in the face" on it's "Did You Know" section:

Levy-Dew, also known as A New Year Carol and Residue, is a British folk song of Welsh origin traditionally sung in New Year celebrations. The song was set to music by Benjamin Britten in 1936. It is associated with a New Year's Day custom involving sprinkling people with water newly drawn from a well.

Here we bring new water from the well so clear,
For to worship God with, this happy New Year.

Chorus (after each verse):
Sing levy-dew, sing levy-dew, the water and the wine,
The seven bright gold wires and the bugles that do shine.

Sing reign of Fair Maid, with gold upon her toe;
Open you the West Door and turn the Old Year go.

Sing reign of Fair Maid, with gold upon her chin;
Open you the East Door and let the New Year in.

More about this ....

This is pertinent "On This Day", I should "say". It makes possible what we're doing today:

1983 The ARPANET changed its core networking protocols from NCP to TCP/IP, marking the beginning of the Internet (visualization of routing paths pictured) as we know it today.

I'm glad I am not alone in doing that then Cuz...I do it
often...we have too much on our minds is what it is!

I checked the link you thoughtfully provided on Levy-Dew.
Interesting. This land is full of customs, and I love the picture
of the Holy Well depicted on the link.
I also likied the idea of the Juniper custom. t/y
