Let me get this straight first. I love valentines day! Any chance I get to throw some lovin on my wife of 26 years I do it in style. My beef is this; The wife gets her birthday, mother's day, and valentines day all for the lovin and I'm good with that. But what does the loving, kind husband get besides the OBVIOUS? A card, a little peck on the cheek? a tie? Endless idiotic tv commercials "finally show her you love her!" with an imbicilic cretin of a man stumbling in front of a woman who wants and needs everything! How about some respect for the guys who get the loving husband part down 24/7/365!

Valentines is my favorite holiday or day to express real love.... Unlike x-mas . To me love is about showing love, feeling love that's reciprocal . It's a simple day to just say "I love you, your mine and special" .

Nice note super willy. May your heart be filled with love from your honey !

My girlfriend hates flowers, so I'm always at a loss, other than jewelry, as to what to get her. This year I think I hit the jackpot. I ordered her 3 dozen French-made macaroons in various flavors. She's not a big chocolate fanatic, so I'm hoping she'll like them.

My hubby and I don't really do anything for Valentine's Day. We'd rather focus on our Anniversary, which is in April. It just seems more special to us. To each their own, right?

I'm not really sure that it matters what it is as long as it is sincere. I've only been out for Valentine's twice but both times I thought it was sincere and I remember them ...... then there were times that I got candy but it was the favorite kind of the significant other.... and I remember that but not in a positive way.

Just saying you love them really is enough, if you mean it.

I've worked places where the women co-workers were trying to one up the others by forcing their spouse to send larger arrangements. That's just twisted.

Quick tip. "Its just another f*cking day" is an extremely efficient way of turning an otherwise normal argument about valentines day into a race for something shield worthy.

Valentines day is just another day, and it has been over-sensationalized.
Love should be unconditional, given and received throughout the year.
If I am feeling loved in my mind and heart then that is all that matters to me and my wives.
If I know that she likes something, whatever it is, then I just might get it for her on Valentines day.......but it definately doesn't have to be flowers or chocolate........

I don't know what i got my wife this year -- she hasn't told me yet , but i always pay for it :):):)

I prefer it this way , because she gets what she wants and i don't look like a fool to others for getting something silly...

. Hmmmmm, kinda like WHY even celebrate Valentine's Day at all...IF...YOUR wife shops FOR that PERFECT gift from you for her.. MAN UP!!..SHOWS ...WHO THE FREAK wears the pants in your family... It's the THOUGHT that counts... So What, if the lingerie you gave her, doesn't fit .She can exchange it. Flowers are the BEST ..Gesture of LOVE sentiment ever!! Take over your MANLY duties NOW..before the BIG DAY arrives... SURPRISE her with a weekend retreat somewhere romantic... OR for a romantic dinner..the possibilites are endless. But, at least you will have taken a stand..
To show her...Valentine's Day isn't about HOW EXPANSIVE a gift is...the VALUE is the time and thought when choosing that SPECIAL gift that REFLECTS your LOVE..

Why not just sit down and write her a love message and stick it in her purse or somewhere that you know she will find it... Words mean a lot... IMO

last year Jack forgot valentines day. Jill said 'you'd better make up for it...tomorrow I want to see something on my driveway that'll go from 0-60 in 60s'
next day Jill finds a gift wrapped parcel on her driveway, takes it inside to open it....it's a pair of bathroom scales. Jack is nowhere to be found.

We always go to a dinner and a movie to celebrate Valentines Day, then a nice night cap. That's enough for us, no expensice gifts needed, just us together having a good time ; )
