Apr 2, 2014 | Posted by: roboblogger | Full story: KBCI CBS 2

A Pennsylvania township is asking residents to keep the change. Officials in Millcreek Township, along with its water and sewer authorities, have adopted a policy limiting how much change they'll accept from residents paying sewer bills and other fees.

They need to review the meaning of the term 'legal tender for all debts, public and private'.

Usually when a person pays in change; it is because they feel wronged. Wonder what is the rest of the story?

She could be like many today and barely scraping by. A paycheck away from homeless, and being charged late fees for not paying the lords of the septic tank on time. Many people today can not afford a banks fees and earn more coin than cash; in tips for example.

True that.
Still for some it is easier to deal with cash than say a debit or credit card. A check or credit can be over drawn resulting in more fees and debt.
Even with the safety of using a debit card with no over draft leniency, a merchant or bank will charge a fee for running it through a cash register if there are insufficient funds to cover the purchase.

I think you hit the nail on the head. I thought the same thing. Most people would at least roll their change if thats all they had, unless it is to protest something or express a dissatisfaction in the service they are paying for.

All rightly then.
Agree about it being done before. I seem to remember a news story 'bout a man making the last payment on his mortgage in pennies.
Have a pleasant good night Tallyho.:')

I know what you mean. I've got friends and family members who are always B****ing about overdraft fees and I shake my head. It isn't the banks fault that you are too lazy and absent minded to know how much money you have. Anyone with common sense would be on top of how much money they have. It's not hard. You overdraft on your account your basically taking a loan. No one gives out loans to people who aren't friends or family without a profit incentive.

Doesn't this town know that $200.00 worth of pennies is actually worth about $300?
