The exact opposite is true. Galatians teaches that if you keep the Old Law, or any part of it, and you fall out of the grace of God and out of Christ. In Acts 15 the apostles said repeatedly that converted Gentiles were NOT to keep the Old Jewish Law. They mentioned just FOUR (4) things : Abstain from blood, fornication, things strangled, and things offered to idols. No mention of tithing. Paul did not teach his converts to tithe, and he never collected them, or he would have been a rich man. OT priests did NOT pay tithes, and we're priests too (I Pet.2:5,9). So it is a sin to take tithes from christ's royal priesthood.

i got a deal with god, every paycheck when i cash it i take all the money and throw it up to god. he takes what he wants and send the rest back down.

I haven't ever voiced my opinion on offbeat before since I don't care a lot about being challenged or drama and I'm not even registered. But I will say after reading Preacher's ideas on tithing this .. you are certainly entitled to your opinion but cramming it down someone elses throat like that will not cause anyone to change their minds. In fact, its opinions like yours which cause many people today to be atheists, I think. Some would even claim they had rather go to hell than serve such an unfeeling God.
Not me personally .. I believe in God and I pray but I don't choose to be religious-y. And can even understand why some people choose not to believe at all. Live and let live. Pray for them but cramming and ridiculing will only cause more disbelief and possibly coldness. Just my opinion.

(ok I've stated my opinion and I have been told now I only have to wait ... ugh)

the only place that's even mentioned (tithing) is in the old testament..You'll do away with the rest of it...but ohhhh..noooo not the tithing...lol...100% money minded greed!!!

btw..did I mention..it was only every third year...and only for the widows, orphans, and levites???? oh well...you wouldn't understand anyway...

there is somewhere in the New Testemant as well. cant pull it up.. Peter I think, killed a man and his wife for lying about their "pay" minimizing the "portion" of what they were to give...Aninaias and Saphira,,not sure the spelling on the names.

I dont like the God that preacher presents. he is not a loving god. he is a taskmaster...demanding unrealistic "stuff" from ordinary folk...course...if you do what he tells you. there is always a plan in store for you....problem is,, you will be dead before the plan kicks in..in the meantime, greedy preachers have used my tithe to live much better than I...and keep their mistress comfortable.. naw... Ill keep my money.....but thanks for the warning..

Actually the two you mentioned were trying to get into the hierarchy. Had nothing to do with tithing...but they lied and God put them to death.

btw it's in Acts 4 and 5...It had nothing to do with tithing...I promise...:)

Just to be clear, does 'love thy neighbor' include coveting? I think I may have found a loophole!
