N.Y. Dad’s Pistol License Suspended Over Something His 10-Year-Old Son Said — and It Could Be 8 Years Before He Gets It Back

http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2013/04/04/n-...

A New York father has had his firearms all but confiscated after the Suffolk County Pistol License Bureau suspended his pistol license indefinitely over a perceived threat made by his 10-year-old son and two of his classmates at school.

John Mayer, of Commack, N.Y., told TheBlaze that the incident occurred on March 1. It was like any other day, the father explained. He put his son on the bus and sent him off to school.

Later that day, Mayer got a call from school officials informing him that his 10-year-old son and two other students were talking about going to a boy’s house with a water gun,“paint gun” and a BB gun. There had reportedly been a school yard pushing incident the day before involving the boys, excluding Mayer’s son, and they were seemingly talking about getting even in some way.

Mayer told TheBlaze that a teacher overheard the students talking and immediately called police and filed a report. He said the teacher told police something to the effect of, there’s a “kid with a gun, ready to go.” Mayer maintains that no serious death threats were made by the students. The Hauppauge Public School District has not returned several messages left by TheBlaze, therefore, it is not clear what they are claiming was said.....

Military Veteran Reportedly Kicked Out of Nursing School Over Gun App on His Phone

http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2013/04/02/mi...

A military veteran, known only as “Dan,” told conservative radio host Todd Schnitt on Monday that he has been kicked out of a private nursing school over a gun app he downloaded on his phone. A fellow student reportedly contacted the school’s program director and said she felt her life was threatened after she witnessed him showing off the app.

Dan, of New Port Richey, Fla., said he was “literally dismissed” from Ultimate Medical Academy in Tampa, Fla. on March 25 because of an incident that he says wasn’t an incident at all. The 33-year-old was reportedly three months shy of completing his two-year registered nurse program.

“I downloaded an application, and I was showing a fellow military combat veteran in my class this application during our break. And while showing him this application, I pressed the screen and it made a sound, it was a dim sound, I didn’t have it up loud… and nothing was said, nothing was done,” Dan told Schnitt.“A day goes by and I get called into my director of education’s office with my program director and they tell me that I’ve allegedly threatened people in my classroom and people feel in fear of their life because of me with this application that I’m going to come to this school and shoot it up.”

The app in question is apparently called “Gun Club 2.” It allows users to choose a firearm, which then provides various facts about a specific weapon. If you press the screen, the app will play what the firearm should sound like.....

15-Year-Old Defends Home Against Burglars, Shoots One Of Them With Father's AR-15

http://nation.foxnews.com/crime/2013/01/10/15...

The teenage son of a Harris County Precinct 1 deputy shot a home intruder Tuesday afternoon in the 2600 block of Royal Place in northwest Harris County, deputies said.

The 15-year-old boy and his 12-year-old sister had been home alone in the Mount Royal Village subdivision when around 2:30 p.m. a pair of burglars tried the front and back doors, then broke a back window.

The teenager grabbed his father's assault rifle and knew what to do with it.

“We don't try to hide things from our children in law enforcement,” Lt. Jeffrey Stauber said.“That young boy was protecting his sister. He was in fear for his life and her life.”

The home invaders fled, leaving a trail of blood.

Three months ago, Cracker. You are really looking in the archives and I can find man killing his wife or a brother shooting another brother or his friend EVERY DAY.

In the last three months, 3,300 have been shot dead.

WA man mistakes pregnant wife for intruder, shoots her

YAKIMA, Wash.-- A Yakima woman who was mistakenly shot by her husband has died.

The Yakima Herald-Republic reports 27-year-old McKaylee Higgs died Wednesday when she was taken off life support.

Yakima County Coroner Jack Hawkins says the gunshot wound in her neck caused fatal brain damage. She never regained consciousness. The coroner also said she was about 10 weeks pregnant.

Background: WA man mistakes pregnant wife for intruder, shoots her

Higgs was shot March 8 when her husband mistook her for an intruder in the bedroom of their Terrace Heights home.

Sheriff's Det. Stew Graham says it will be up to prosecutors to decide whether 25-year-old Cory Lindblom should be charged. He could be charged with reckless endangerment or negligent homicide.

KC man fires through back door, shoots intruder’s foot

http://www.kansascity.com/2013/04/01/4155829/...

A 60-year-old homeowner shot through his back door and struck a man in the foot Sunday night after the man tried to break in, Kansas City police said.

The homeowner told police that the shooting happened about 8:30 p.m. in the 4000 block of Norton Avenue after an unknown man began beating on the home’s front door. The stranger demanded to see a 31-year-old woman who was at the home. The homeowner refused to open the door and told the man the woman was asleep.

A few minutes later, the homeowner heard someone kicking at his back door. The homeowner called police.

Police think the homeowner shot the man through the door. When officers arrived, they found a man with a bloody foot sitting inside a rear screened-in porch. A shoe found nearby bore holes that corresponded with the man’s wounds.

Obama Tells Democratic Donors Sandy Hook Shooter Used “a fully automatic weapon”

http://gunssavelives.net/blog/obama-tells-dem...

Now we’re just getting into the realm of the absurd.

The same day that the story broke about a Democratic Congresswoman who though gun magazines could only be used once, now the president himself is spreading mistruths about guns.

The president told donors at a Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee that the gun used in the Sandy Hook shooting was “a fully automatic weapon.”

No, he didn’t just misspeak either. He started to say semi-automatic weapon, and then corrected himself to say fully automatic weapon.....

http://www.examiner.com/article/burglar-shot-...

On Saturday, March 30, a Hazelton, Pa. homeowner returned home around noon to find that he had been the victim of a home invasion. Upon entering the home, he discovered a burglar inside in the process of stealing his belongings reports WNEP 16.

Neighbors in the community, which is located about 100 miles northwest of Philadelphia, express that while they are fed up with the increasing crime in the area, it was fortunate that this homeowner was able to protect himself and his property....

SPOKANE, Wash.-

A grandmother of ten fired a warning shot and then held a would-be burglar at gunpoint in her home until police arrived and arrested him.

82-year-old Oregon farmer holds burglar at gunpoint until police arrive

http://www.examiner.com/article/82-year-old-o...

Early Friday morning, March 29, an elderly man and his wife were awakened by noises coming from the shop at their home in Albany, Ore., about 70 miles south of Portland. According to KREM, the man and his wife got up, grabbed their robes and a shotgun before going to investigate.

The shop had been burglarized just a few weeks prior and about one thousand dollars worth of tools had been stolen. The man was not about to become the victim of yet another burglary.

Upon opening the shop, the 82-year-old farmer saw a much younger man hiding behind his tractor, who gave him a number of reasons why he thought it was okay for him to be trespassing on the man’s property.

Unsure if the criminal was armed, the homeowner aimed his shotgun at him and released the safety. He did not shoot, but rather gave the would-be burglar an ultimatum.

“You take one more step and this gun goes off in the middle of your chest. Do what you want.”

He decided not to take another step.....

http://www.examiner.com/article/florida-man-s...

On Monday morning, April 1, a disagreement between family members in Florida ended in one man being shot. Although there are very little details available at this time, according to a report by WTSP, police say the family member acted in self-defense, and charges are not expected to be filed.

The incident occurred in Zolfo Springs, about 70 miles southeast of Tampa.

The man was shot once in the chest and was identified as 54-year-old Jobie Skitka. He was pronounced dead at about 11:30 a.m. after Hardee County Fire Rescue arrived on the scene.

Apparently Skitka was a registered felon who has already had several run-ins with police.....

FORT KNOX, Ky.(AP)— An Army civilian employee was shot and killed in a parking lot at Kentucky's Fort Knox, and investigators were seeking to question a man in connection with the shooting, authorities said.

Army officials said in a news release late Wednesday that the victim was an employee of the U.S. Army Human Resources Command, which handles personnel actions for soldiers. The shooting occurred in a lot outside the command. The victim was transported to the Ireland Army Community Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

"Special Agents from the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command are investigating a personal incident and not a random act of violence," said Chris Grey, spokesman for the independent Army investigative agency.

The identity of the victim was being withheld pending notification of family.

Police were seeking to speak with a person of interest in the case. The news release identified him as a 5-foot, 9-inch black man who is American and is believed to be using a black Yamaha motorcycle for transportation.

Fort Knox police received a 911 call about the shooting at about 5:40 pm., the news release said.

Mingo County Sheriff Eugene Crum was shot and killed on Wednesday as he ate his lunch inside his vehicle.

as saying he saw a man pull up to Crum's car and shoot him "right in the head."

The paper adds:

"Tennis Melvin Maynard, 37, of Delbarton, has been arrested in connection to the shooting, according to West Virginia State Police spokesman Sgt. Michael Baylous.

"Baylous said a Mingo County Sheriff's Deputy spotted Maynard in a car near Delbarton following the shooting and began to chase him. He said Maynard wrecked his car and jumped out, pointing a gun at the deputy."

Of course, this shooting follows the killing of three other public officials across the country. In January, Kaufman County Assistant District Attorney Mark Hasse was ; on March 20, when he opened the door to his home; on March 31, Kaufman County District Attorney Mike McLelland and his wife, Cynthia Woodward McLelland. There is no indication that all these shootings are related.

MANCHESTER TOWNSHIP, Pa.—A York County man shot and killed his wife Tuesday morning before turning the gun on himself, according to York County Deputy Coroner Claude Stabley.

The killings happened in an upstairs bedroom at a home along the 900 block of Hedgegate Lane near Ponds Court in Manchester Township.

Stabley said Parag Patel, 43, shot his 41-year-old wife, Niha, in the head as she slept with a .38 caliber revolver, then shot himself in the chest.

The shooting happened sometime between 6 a.m. and 9 a.m., according to Stabley. Three other family members were home at the time, but did not hear the shot, presumably because it happened at close range and behind closed doors.

"With a situation like this, with the type of weapon that was used, the handgun, and the type of injuries, both contact wounds, the noise would have been minimal with the door to the bedroom shut," said Stabley.

A family member discovered the bodies about 1:30 p.m. and called police.

Investigators said the couple was having marital problems and family members were trying to help.

The couple leaves behind two teenage children. Officials said they were not home at the time of the killings.
