tallyho..there has been times where the person being threatened has a chance to stop the person comminting the crime in some way or another.even if meant takeing the weapon from the person.i admit that rarely turns out that way.but it does all the same.
<quoted text> No, it's no joke. All of the discussions about banning guns are about the concensus of gun controll in the U.S. As usually is the case, the American pro-gun buffoonery starts in with "it's the person, not the gun ..... bla, bla, bla". Then comes the smoke-screen BS about the gun/murder ratio in Tramtaria (or some other country) which is meant to prove that guns themselves are not the problem - therefore everyone in the U.S.(it is argued) should have the right to own firearms. But that's a red herring. The upshot is that the "it's the person not the gun" people are on the right track without knowing it. After all the subject is, and always has been, the question of guns-crime in the USA. So, if someone were to prove that every citizen in Tramtaria has a gun but there has never been anyone murderd with a firearm ... it would be completly irrelevant. The subject is "Guns in the hands of Americans" and the unbelievably high frequency of mass shootings by both criminal and non-criminal Americans. Yes, it is the person not the gun that kills, and Americans ought to be the last people on the face of the earth to have guns. The American murder statisics speak for themselves.
lim get a life drop this act , Christ we can ban you ,easier than guns and look here you are any how .....
<quoted text>Not true, sorry to repeat myself, but you're wrong - again.
In 2010 (the last year available for this data), the US had a firearm murder rate per capita of 10.2. Switzerland in the same time period had a firearm murder rate of only 3.84. There is a lot of distance and countries between the two - namely Argentina, South Africa and Phillipines to name a few.
ALL the countries above the United States have 100% gun bans
It might be of interest to note that Switzerland also has NO MURDER OCCURRENCE. However their law requires that EVERYONE own a gun, maintain marksman qualifications and "carry". You never hear about this.

"Switzerland is the only country with fewer gun murders than the US per capita."
I'll give you that, but you're still comparing apples to oranges. The total population of the US is what? 330+ million? And Switzerland? Just under 8 million?
Come on man...look at the total death by firearm statistic. It paints an entirely different picture.
... but you didn't disagree with what I said - it's just that you don't me saying it.
Dr-Sniper wrote, "<quoted text> Theirs is not the same as our 2nd Amendment."
We are not debating the gun laws in Switzerland or anywhere else except in the United Snakes. There's a very good reason why the U.S. needs a ban on guns and it's that very reason why this thread and so many others are being discussed.
Dr-Sniper wrote, "<quoted text>Switzerland is the only country with fewer gun murders than the US per capita. "
Am I allowed to write BULLSHIT on Topix or must I spell it BULLSHYT?
Dr-Sniper wrote, "<quoted text> Really? Show me which definition by which you refer! "
Try keeping your finger on the page as you read and you won't get lost so easily.
All that and you still said nothing! Do you get paid by the syllable?
<quoted text> That's why it's per capita! It's a percentage. Black people make up 13% of the US, yet are nearly 6 times as likely to murder with a gun than Whites. What is your point?
Your data doesn't show the whole picture. Immigrants make up a large percentage of serious crimes in Switzerland, not the Swiss. Switzerland has an extremely high rate of deportations - including murder convictions. If you want to look at "blacks," look at Switzerland - immigrants from Angola, Nigeria, Algeria, Côte d'Ivoire and the Dominican Republic make up almost 25 per capita on total crime rates.
The difference is that Americans, not immigrants, make up the largest percentage of firearm violence in the US.
