Good, we'll let you drink water vapor from now on.
Cletus, apart from your basic misunderstanding that "water" is different from "vapor," the consequence of ice melting is higher seas, because there's more "water."
Water is less dense than ice, just to review.
Your ignorant BS about "always having the same amount of water" never had anything to say about sea level rise. You're willfully confused.

water is water regardless of what state it's in at any given time, son!

ice is less dense than water, DUMBAZZ!! how the hell would ice float if water were less dense?!?!

you seem to be "DENSER" by the post!

WOW......Holy Silicon Wafer just announced that water is less dense than ice!!

Did that new discovery just come out of the latest IPCC report???

Yes, that was an obvious oversight.

Of course the point is that ice is more compact. Therefore when it melts you get more water.

We were discussing factors which make sea levels rise in spite of your nonsensical claim that the amount of water is fixed.

We just went through your concept that the "amount of co2 is fixed." That was just as crazy to anyone who knows what a carbon sink is, or what coal is for that matter.

Same old trolling.

It's a losing battle with this bunch. They don't care what is happening because they don't understand it. It only takes on look at Venus to see the effects of greenhouse gasses gone wrong. 900+ degree temps on a planet that is set in the depths of sub zero space.
But what are ya gonna do? Trolls will be trolls. Let them think as they will. I get my amusement from watching them flop around like fish on the deck of a boat every time a law is enacted that has a positive effect on the planet and society as well.
Those stupid Venusians, they burned up all their fossil fuels and positioned their planet way too close to the sun and Venal warming killed them off. Obama will keep the conservatives from creating jobs and carbon and keep them from moving the Earth closer to the sun, otherwise we are all cooked. Enacting more laws will save us, carbon credits are a magic wand. Please turn in your firearms at the nearest re-education center.:)

Actually, ice is not "more compact". Ice is less dense than water, which is why ice floats in water. You can use this effect to break a rock. Drill a hole in a boulder, pour water in the hole, then freeze the water, the water expands, cracking the rock.
Ice and snow can pile up on land, or pile on top of sheets of ice covering the poles, resulting in a sort of sequestering of water. These levels naturally change and fluctuate over time, ice and snow don't last forever, they tend to melt into liquid. Lakes, rivers, seas all rise and fall. Areas we consider normally cold and frozen were not always that way, they were warm and tropical years ago. Just sayin'

bwwwwaaaaahhhahhhaaaaa. YOU UTTER MORON!!!!!

an oversight? is that what you call your ignorance?

NO,the point is ice IS NOT more compact. water is most dense just above 39 degrees, stupid.

we never were discussing anything, sparky, as you aren't capable of having a conversation. and....it's not nonsensical to claim that the planetary water budget is fixed. BECAUSE IT IS!! how many times do you need to be schooled on basics?? water is always in flux from a gas, liquid, and solid.

now you're bringing co2 into the conversation when you OBVIOUSLY have no grasp on H2O!!!

lol....stop embarrassing yourself!!!!! notice the cricket chirps from your 'camp', son??? the silence speaks volumes, moron.

You never had a point, troll. It was a simple transposition.

You were arguing/lying that the "amount of water is constant."

That's nuts on many levels. As ice melts the oceans rise.

Then as water in the oceans heats it expands.

Sea level rise.

And you know this perfectly well, just like every non Creationist scientist - the Creationists being your peeps - understands the greenhouse gas effect perfectly well.

Of course sea level rise as ice melts and water expands and certain coastlines sink is hardly the full extent of climate change's effects.

sorry you're not educated well enough to know this.

psssst......remember ice is water....and water in a solid state is less dense than water in a liquid form.

The amount of water is not constant, because "water" comes in different forms. The biosphere is also not a hermetically sealed baggie.

But it doesn't matter, anyway, regarding the issue of sea level rise - as you know. Water takes up more room than ice. Heated water takes up more room than normal ocean water. Thus, sea level rise.

Your stuff about "water is constant" has nothing to do with the issue of sea level rise from human mediated greenhouse effects. You just like to troll.

However, I don't think you like being in the same party as the earth-is- under-10000- years-old crowd. Who would?

Good, then you can drop your dancing around the fact that the science and climate deniers are mostly all Creationist sorts.

We now have you on record as saying that ice on glaciers, or floating on the sea, will not cause sea level rise when it melts.

Good for you. Totally wrong.

We now have you on record as saying that water will not take up more room as it warms. No thermal expansion contributing to sea level rise.

Good. Again, completely incorrect.

No acknowledgment from you yet that sea level rise is just one aspect of climate change, nor that every qualified scientist - not your Creationist peeps - understands full well the causal role of greenhouse gas emissions.

As ocean ice melts it does not raise ocean level. If the glaciers melted it would raise the ocean level. Water is a constant in its different forms. Ice vapor liquid

It is silly to say that people who don't think there is man made global warming are creationist. That is like me saying people who think there is man caused global warming are socialist. On second thought maybe they are.:)

You could say it better if you meant this transformation is physical, not chenical. The number of molecules stays the same during the transformation from one form to another.

On the hand, the earth system loses molecules like H2O as leakage out of its atmosphere.
