The only "filthy" place in NYC is a bit of the Bronx! I mean sometimes trash can collect on the streets, but street sweepers clean it up eventually. Living in a city with 8 million other people can make it filthy, but it is always cleaned up. But I don't know exactly what you mean by filthy, so why don't you tell me!
It's dirty and there is trash everywhere. I'm not the only one who thinks this:

Chicago is built on the grid system ... There are alleyways for folks to put trash cans. You don't see it piled up everywhere. New York wasn't planned like Chicago.

I like a big city and the hustle/bustle but I don't need 9 million people to have that experience. NewYork really doesn't have anything that Chicago doesn't and I'm familiar with it having grown up in the area and lived in the city for a few years and worked/gone to school downtown. I just like it better.

My wife grew up by me and has spent a fair amount of time in Chicago (we lived in the city when we first married)... she went to NYC a few years ago and commented how dirty and filthy it was. She has no desire to ever go back. We joke about going to vacation there.

Don't take it personally ... Different strokes and all that.

York is another one of my favourite places. Medieval architecture built atop Roman walls. Spectacular.

New York city was built on a grid system, well at least manhattan. I don't know specifically where in NYC you think has a trash problem. Considering Chicago has 6 million less residents, obviously NYC will make more trash. And I can come up with many thing Chicago doesn't have:
The Western hemisphere's tallest building
Times Square
1st largest fire department in North America
Some of the most expensive real estate in the world
The most recognizable landmarks in the world
And of course Chicago doesn't have yours truly as a resident.

The list can keep going on and on.

Don't really care why it is the case. I simply point out that it is the case.

You forgot sh1tier pizza, btw.

WoW!!! That's quite an impressive list. I mean the largest fire department in North America!! Ouch, that hurts. Unfortunately, I think I outgrew the "I wanna be a firefighter when I grow up," after I turned 7. Apparently that dream still lives within some...

I also only care about expensive real-estate, if I own it.

Your tallest building is actually the western worlds tallest antenna on a building.

Outside of a few landmarks, the folks who are impressed by NYC landmarks are the same morons who visit and the highlight of their vacation is waking up at the crack of dawn and standing outside for "good morning america" with a sign saying "hi MOM" as they scream like morons. I'm not one of those people. In fact, I just talked to Rome and Rome said to tell you it laughs at NYC's "landmarks."

I don't feel NYC or Chicago offers a lot in that regard. They are desirable from my perspective because they offer the big city experience ... urban architecture, museums, fine dining, good night life, sports, and an urban pace.
so very annoying u r

New York City is home to three of the top five areas in the country with the highest cost of living, according to the Council for Community and Economic Research. Manhattan has the highest cost of living, followed by Brooklyn. Queens ranks number five.

Four out of the ten cities with the lowest cost of living are in Texas, according to the index.

Okay what's your point? If you're not rich don't move to NYC, it's not that hard to figure out. A less expensive city doesn't make it better or worse, just more affordable.

Defending a pollutician like Bloomberg is a sign of mental disease. You belong in Bellevue.

The fact that you can't spell makes you need to belong in Bellevue as well...they have some of the best psychiatric services in the country apparently.

Worst city in the US- Little Falls, NY. The city is apparently broke, completely broke! They don't even have money to patch the roof of city hall. The location of the city is perfect. It has a nice view of a water fall...but it's still sad that the city is completely broke...what a dump...but maybe not as dumpy as Utica...Utica is like a ghetto...
