Eric Holder and the Strange Case of Endemic Racism

Jun 3, 2012 Full story: Right Wing News 138

Holder asserted that requiring a valid ID to vote is racist, stating, "In my travels across this country, I've heard a consistent drumbeat of concern from citizens, who-often for the first time in their lives-now have reason to believe that we are failing to live up to one of our nation's most noble ideals some of the achievements that defined the ... The real problem is that whenever charges of racism are aired where none exists, the truly racist acts get lost in the proverbial fog, instead of being addressed. I suppose the key is to treat everyone as if they are family.

Eric holder, the epitome of the nations top law enforcement officer screaming 'raaayyycccisssttt' as he turns a blind eye to his bruthas of the black pampers on video intimidating voters at a polling place wearing paramilitary uniforms and brandishing clubs. A real class act he is. Impossible to take this idiot seriously on any subject as he breaks laws, gets federal employees killed and ignores congressional demands for answers because his king oblama has his back. Will be fantastic to see these fools out the door in November.

"It's demeaning to have to dignify this argument with facts, but here goes. Voter ID laws have been found by the courts not to be an undue burden under the Voting Rights Act and the Constitution. The landmark Supreme Court opinion, upholding an Indiana law in 2008, was written for a six-member majority by that noted right-winger, John Paul Stevens.

"Black voter turnout increased in Georgia and Indiana after voter ID laws passed. Georgia began implementing its law requiring one of six forms of voter ID in 2007. According to data from Georgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp, the black vote increased by 42%, or 366,000 votes, in 2008 over 2004. The Latino vote grew by 140% or 25,000 votes in 2008, while the white vote increased by only 8% from four years earlier.

"No doubt Mr. Obama's presence on the ballot helped drive that turnout surge in 2008, but then the black vote in Georgia also increased by 44.2% during the midterm Congressional races of 2010 from 2006. The Hispanic vote grew by 66.5% in 2010 from four years earlier. Those vote totals certainly don't suggest that requiring an ID is a barrier to the ballot box.

"As for public opinion, an April 2012 Fox News survey found that a majority of Democrats (52%), Republicans (87%) and independents (72%) support voter ID laws. This is no doubt because Americans understand intuitively that ballot integrity is as important as ballot access to democratic credibility. Everyone's franchise is devalued if an election turns on the votes of the quick and the dead."

At first, voter ID's would have seemed un-necessary, but then this got trashed:

Anyone that says you don't need a valid I.D. Card must be daft. Why wouldn't you? Racist? And why would that be? Having or not having an I.D. Card has absolutely noting with racisim.

Tightened voter ID laws uncover thousands of illegally-registered voters: Eric Holder says the practice must stop. Just following orders, I'm sure.

With *voter fraud* at a whopping .00004% of all voting (except on Topix troll polls where, admittedly it's at 10,000%) clearly, voter ID laws can slash that to .00003%. I mean, it's impossible to fake an ID, right?

I'm not going to bother to vote anymore but not because of Eric Holder. I'm willing to show an I.D.. But NOT to the neighbors I don't like who purposely volunteer to help at the polls in order to ferret out information about me.

Besides, all the candidates are aholes.

Exactly... also matching a valid ID to the registration assures that less identity theft is passing through.

We have already discussed this and don't see eye to eye on it.

I don't know anyone that doesn't have a valid ID. Saying it will affect the poor and elderly is BS, can't use your EBT card (welfare stamps) with out an ID, they check your ID like it is a credit card. You can't get SS without an ID. Even poor people and seniors need an ID to function in this country.

Ah but, where's the necessity for *preventing* voter fraud? It's making a mountain out of a mole hill, creating a *solution* for a *problem* that really isn't there.

Explain please the necessity to purge voter rolls of democrats, light fire to the hoops of absentee balloting and hindering/eliminating early voting? I'd love to hear your or anyone's defense of that.

For extra credit, why the sudden need for a 48 hour window to turn in voter registrations and $1,000 fines?

Much like the attack on women's rights being reported ad nauseam. or the attack on abortions rights under the guise of gender. Or the "He did drugs when he was in high school" or "he cut a young man's hair because he was gay." What any of it has to do with turning the economy around or getting out of Afghanistan, you know the important stuff, is beyond me.
To be really honest it makes me think of a magic show, oh looks at the hand (story) in front, never mind what is going on over there. Truth would go a long way with many voters, not the typical campaign BS we are mired in.

Having said that I am grateful I do have the right to vote and I am offended that someone would attempt to make a mockery of the voting system by voting illegally. I don't think the right to vote is under attack, yet, doesn't mean it won't be.....

I think *voter fraud* is .00004% of all voting. That percentage is probably bi-partisan.

The numbers reported for voter fraud are like the economic data and polling data issued by the administration.
They are wrong, the counters are corrupt and the media will spin a political agenda.
After the 'jackboot show' in Philadelphia, Holder is promoting another violation of the US Constitution.

The fraud associated with US currency is tiny next to the number of dollars the US has outstanding. The Treasury and Secret Service will tell you the reason they go after every case of counterfeiting, big or small, is to preserve the integrity of US currency. It has nothing to do with the face amount involved.
