I'm going to start with this and then give some history of my experiences-it's something to do
which I'll prepare on another forum and transpose
here when it's done.
Kenny as a young'n lived right up the road from my Pop Pa and I lived a couple hollars away. His entire family were musically inclined, you should have heard his brother that was crippled from polio
play the 'steel guitar'.

PS: They lived right across the road from the Roanoke Cristian Church that {all-of-us} attended
in Pendleton County, KY.
WE'd remind'm not to play music while church was in session-otherwise- when they all got wound up
it was a jamboree-we could here'm from Pops house
which was about 2 mile away.

Dean Maxedon was better known to his fans as Dean Richards. He was married for 52 years to another singer, Penny West.
They were friends with my mother & father and lived on a farm in Butler, Ky about 20 miles from us. They were just good'ol country people that loved music and could 'make-it'.

For much of its television run MH was hosted by Dean Richards, lead vocalist of The Lucky Pennies, a local singing group. Richards also introduced a "Polka Time" segment (geared to Cincinnati's German heritage and its local breweries**) aired near the program's close until 1969, when he was replaced by Henson Cargill riding on the success of his hit song "Skip a Rope".
**** local breweries: Wiedemann, Hudepohl, Burger
Christian Moerlein Brewing was a pre-prohibition brewery.
I have some clay pint & quart containers pulled from the 3rd
basement down in a building demolition

By the early 1970s, then-16 year MH veteran Kenny Price, a popular musician and comedian nicknamed The Round Mound of Sound, had a string of country hits for RCA Records including local favorite "The Sheriff of Boone County". On the strength of those hits, Price was picked to be the new host of the show, which by then had shortened its name to Hayride
"The Sheriff of Boone County".

Greater Cincinnati Airport is in Boone County, Ky.
