Na.. it's you, Tally and Artic that have been entertaining the hell out of me. Thanks so much for encouraging me to post the correct information. For all your name calling and silly, inane posts, you have yet to answer any of my questions or actually refute anything anything I've posted. Right now we are arguing about sources. You have one, the CIA. Where DO they get their information? There are at least 10 sources listed at the bottom of the article I posted to support the stats in that article. Be that as it may...the whole point I was making is that in the "richest" country in the world, where health care costs more than anywhere in the world, has more maternal mortality. That is certainly reflected in either set of stats.
This is outdated...

It's a slippery slope people, I mean what's next--trying to limit soda intake at a restaraunt or taking the toy out of a happy meal? Oh yeah, they already tried.

Nothing to be proud of but not quite the picture your friend is painting, either.

Similar results. Sources WHO, UNICEF et cetera. Again, nothing to crow about though.

No, my links are not outdated. Whatever gave you that idea? They're from 2011. Different surveys use different criteria from different sources and reality is usually somewhere in the middle....which is still really bad in the U.S.....and that was my point. Thanks for helping me make it.

Thanks for proving my point Nan-pea.

Your's is from 2011, mine is from 2012...I would say unequivocally that your's is outdated - as compared to mine.

Look at your link and notice ....

"Trends in Maternal Mortality: 1990-2010. Estimates Developed by WHO, UNICEF, UNFPA and the World Bank."

The information was gathered though 2010.

I just looked at my article and noticed the first reference is from...guess where?

WHO . Trends in maternal mortality: 1990 to 2008 estimates developed by WHO, UNICEF, UNFPA and The World Bank, World Health Organization 2010, Annex 1. 2010. http://whqlibdoc.who.int/publications/2010/97... accessed: January 3, 2011.

LOL Like I said, it's somewhere in the middle.

Yes, but is your current information from 2010 or 2011? There's apparently a big difference. LOL

I was in nursing school in 1971 but didn't actually practice my profession until the 1980's. I ran my own company providing in-home care while creating jobs for primarily women. I retired from running my business 1993. I continued working for a private care company until 2000 when I retired. I feel pretty comfortable discussing medical topics within my range of experience, especially conditions I have myself.
