Rich people have their own way of "disciplining" their kin. I heard about the documentary though and found it ironic that an heir to a multibillion-dollar company, which apparently has been surrounded with controversies regarding their products as this article at http://www.i4u.com/2013/01/bloomberg/group-ne... describes, would actually make a film that would somehow add up to the bad media they have been getting. I guess all families have their own, at least what they would consider a "black sheep".
J&J is a major player in the industry and has been sufficiently resilient amid less favorable issues that have been linked to their drugs and medical devices. I came across this article though at http://news.yahoo.com/depuy-asr-lawsuit-hip-i... and realized that J&J may be in a difficult position to redeem itself to consumers.
I have to agree with you, Mikehawkslarge. It makes you wonder if drug companies ever cared about what's best for consumers/patients or what's best for their numbers. As I was scouring the net, I also came across this article at http://news.yahoo.com/depuy-asr-lawsuit-hip-i... that is related to one of the mishaps by J&J.
There are certain risks to every treatment or surgery. However, serious risks that may be causing a great impact to a patient's life is a different story. I read some articles on the net including this one at http://news.yahoo.com/depuy-asr-lawsuit-hip-i... and it appears as though crippling pain is not part of what hip implants have been devised.
I came across some online resources, one of them was http://www.digitaljournal.com/pr/1028474 , and was dumbfounded to know how these people's lives were greatly altered for the worst because of the complications that may have been caused by hip implants. I can only hope that they get compensated for the pain and suffering they had to go through.
