excellent post Debra27.
He battled so much and yet couldn't handle what he achieved.
I think his death was a great loss to music.

I wasn't into his music as such, but that's
just a personal thing;
he made it far in his field and must be admired for that.

I would never EVER stand in judgment of someone who takes his/her own life,
the pressures and state of mind at such a time are waaay beyond our
understanding:

May he rest in peace.

I left ages ago. And was careful of the turnstile.
So you detested your country enough that you expatriated yourself? Of course that was after you'd gained an education in our schools here, pursued your craft, presumably made a name for yourself and advanced sufficiently high enough in your industry that you could pursue your work somewhere else? Yet you show no appreciation, not even a kind word, for your country that assisted you to do so? Because this "shythole" country, you referred to, owed you that?

At the very least, that seems a bit classless, hypocritical, opportunistic and thankless, don't you think?

You didn't even know why anyone would bring up the word "Hole" in this discussion. You obviously know nothing about Cobain or Nirvana or grunge rock or music in general.

But that sort of complete lack of knowledge never stopped a "religious" fanatic before. Why should it now?

I gained an education in private schools and Universities, then moved on to better places. I love shopping in Manhattan and occasionally visit a home I own on the eastern end of Long Island, but mostly rent it out as a vacation rental. Other than that, it's a shytehole and I like it not.

But don't worry, the U.S. still enjoys the benefits of my tax dollars, without me using up any resources.

Maybe if you insulted England I would get all mad and write insulting diatribes about you. But probably not, because who cares.

"Maybe if I insulted England...?" Since virtually all of my ancestors are from there, Ireland and Scotland, I probably won't insult them today. Those who know me consider me to be a loyal, patriotic basta*d. The words "biting the hand that fed you and indirectly continues to feed you," seem to apply to one of us here. Your blatant lack of patriotism is duly noted.

This reminds me of you and those other expatriates who talk trash on their and my country.

Don't we have some more important people in this beautiful country of ours to honor? Like victims of 9/11, the armed forces, even every-day people who we don't realize are heroes, they all deserved to be honored. It's stupid for any town/city/county/country or whatever to build a statue of someone who isn't worth honoring. Think about it, if places all over the world just started honoring random people who didn't have a good impact on our world.

Face it...Curt was a good song writer but a so so guitarist, never lived long enough to hone any real skill or discipline in his art or for that matter his life..it is sad but these are the honest facts..if for that last breath..

His band was huge in the start of the grunge era but that would never had lasted regardless of the bands input...I am happy that some that surrounded him moved on and became successful, the Foo Fighters were great..!!!..I hope his ex can stay out of the same spiral he went down..it was iffy for awhile..she does have some musical talent..

Imo, Kurt was an excellent guitarist. His former guitar teacher (Mason) said he had a way with fitting chords together which others wouldn't have. Innovation, inspiration. Imo, if he had lived he would have gone on producing new and different music/songs. It would have lasted, with the band in one form or another, as is shown by the countless fans who still listen to Nirvana today, including new fans.
