True disciples are known not only by their fruits, but also by their strength and resiliance in the face of the greatest of tribulation and turmoil. Any tree that loseth even the littlest limb in the greatest storm is hewn down and burned! No person shall dare allow a weak wooded tree to thrive where a stronger wooded tree shall thrive even better. Will any person allow a Silver Maple to thrive where a White Oak will thrive just as well? Absolutely not! Any tree that suffers damage in even the greatest of storms shall perish under chain saw, stump grinder, and fire!

I don't think Preacher is talking about trees, it's a parable about those that will make it to heaven.
We all sin (broken limb) but we can gain forgiveness through Jesus, but those that reject His will
will be taken down and burn in hell.

So does this mean I can take out the guy at work who messed up through complete arrogant ignorance and caused me hours of extra work? Pretty please?

Sure, as long as you kill him using a mighty oak or silver maple.

People who complain, even of the greatest of tribulation, are like trees that lose branches in even the greatest storms.

And complaining includes but is not limited to saying that you "can't take it" or that you "can't take it anymore." You are also commanded to LOVE your enemies! To love your enemies is to vow that only YOUR DEATH will erase your physical presence from their sight. Leaving the land of your enemy's residence is a monstrously grave sin and constitutes complaining. It is also murder in the heart to leave your enemy's land of residence. A true Christian will face tribulation face first and head on. Just like a tree that faces even a destructive tornado without losing a single twig. And once again, any tree that suffers damage in even the greatest of storms will perish by chain saw, stump grinder, and fire.

That can be extremely difficult to do. I have had in-law issues for many years. They literally tried to destroy me and I've never did a thing to them other then to marry their son. It was so hurtful and painful to be around them or even associate myself with them. I've stayed clear of them for years just to keep my sanity and my health. It has worked for me and I'm otherwise happy. Do I wish that my relationship with them could have been better? Of course. But it didn't work out that way. That family was pure hell. I enjoy life and why should I have to subject myself to unwanted and unnecessary pain? That would be foolish. Perhaps I could have tried harder, but to what avail? They would not have changed who they really are. It would only have made my life continually miserable.
