The former president knocks Republicans for insisting on health care law delay

Former President Bill Clinton, who successfully outmaneuvered Republicans over a government shutdown in the 1990s, said Sunday that President Barack Obama is right not to give ground to the GOP this time around.

Clinton, knocking Republicans for using the threat of a shutting down the government or not increasing the debt limit to delay Obama’s health care reform law, said on ABC’s This Week that “the current price of stopping is higher than the price of letting the Republicans do it and taking their medicine.”

The House passed a bill Saturday night that would continue to fund the government, while also delaying implementation of the health law for a year. The measure is dead on arrival in the Senate, and Obama has promised to veto it if passed anyway.
=*= This is the one the Democrats should have accepted. Since Obama has already made 17 exceptions to it without congress (legislative approval) and has exempted everyone 'except' US what harm could a years delay have-if they've even got it ready by then? It would have also made it better for him when he asks the republicans for a deficit increase. Wait til that comes up and AHA surfaces again because without an increase AHA can't be funded.

Barring a last-minute deal, funding for most government operations expires at midnight on Tuesday. The nation is scheduled to reach its borrowing limit next month.

I'm guessing about the end of February when the markets drop ONE THOUSAND POINTS from their 2013 high.
When the Nation sees it no longer has money to operate-similar to the government.

The Dems are opposed to passing small CRs to fund government incrementally but strangely they have not been opposed to passing incremental budget extensions instead of passing one complete budget.

They've worked that way for years now.

If you can't solve one large problem, the logical approach is to break it down into smaller problems, and solving them individually.

You may have misunderstood...as stated "to simplify things" . I think you would know full well that your solutions are not going to happen....so what's the easiest way out in the short term?.......borrow more and let the future look after itself!

Ya know, except for the EIGHTEEN (18) times he raised the debt ceiling, Ronald Reagan never raised the debt ceiling!

It was a simpler time back then. We didn't have Black presidents and our fiscally responsible republicans voted to pay past expenditures rather than weasel out of them for political points that really won't get them anywhere but, would hurt the country.
