It takes mucho moolah to run for the presidency. Unless you are personally wealthy, or can get the backing of the wealthy, you haven't a chance. For true democracy, running for office shouldn't be limited to those with rich families or friends. The way things stand today, we are run, if not by a monarchy, an aristocracy, which is just as bad.Are we living in a monarchy, the same 2 families have ruled over us forever......Bush1, Bubba, Bubba, Bush2, Bush2, Obama, Obama, and next it will be Mrs Bubba, and Mrs Bubba, that's 28 years of the bush/Clinton family, with 8 years of Obama keeping the seat warm for Hillary. If Hillary gets michelle to run with her, then michelle can rule over us starting in 2024 and the death cycle will be complete.
I think Obama was an exception to that rule. From the moment he stepped on the stage of that old Democratic Convention, he dazzled millions of people, including me.(I turned to my wife at that time and told her Obama would be president some day.) That won him the backing of Democratic bigwigs in his run for the presidency.
Your personal feelings about the guy are not the point here. It's just a case where personal wealth was not a factor.
