Thank You for Serving

On your hardest day and coldest night
While lying there before the fight
Let us be your guiding light
Thank You for Serving

For all the fallen and all the rest
Know in your heart you are the best
In the struggle for freedoms plight
Thank You for Serving

From valleys and hills across the land
We stand proud to sing this song
In our hearts we believe in you
Thank You for Serving

All that have served they understand
Honor and duty is the strength of a man
Protecting freedom and our land
Thank You for Serving

While all alone on the darkest night.
A band of brothers caught in the fight
In our prayers thatÂ’s where youÂ’ll be
Thank You for Serving

They serve our county for you and me
Fighting terror and tyranny
Made of iron with golden hearts

Thank You for Serving
Beautiful!!!

So why didn't you do that when I came back from Vietnam? Just because I was against the killing?

SHE GAVE ALL

Beside our church, I stopped to pray:
“Lord help me make it through this day.”
I hear the birds singing and the sun shines so bright.
There’s time that I wonder, is it day or is it night?
A little girl waved as I turned away to hide,
The look of a soul that’s dying inside.
Tears overflowed from this Mother’s broken heart:
“God, where’s the ending and how did it all start?”

I looked at the park where children played ball.
In hearing their laughter, fond memories recalled.
The first time I held him and looked in his eyes,
Made two days of labor seem so worthwhile.
Boy Scouts and camping, vacations at the beach,
Watching him wonder at the stars just out of reach.
With school almost over, there are decisions to make.
College or marriage – which path would he take?

His dad and I promised to let him decide.
We’re in this for life, not just here for the ride.
A graduation party then summer will end.
Our son leaves for basic to serve with his friends.
It took some convincing for me to let go:
“America needs me, Mom, you must know.
Like Grandpa and Dad, America’s calling,
We’ll fight for our Country and honor the Fallen.

Tears I kept hidden when he boarded that plane.
How little I knew how my world would change.
His first letter home was full of courage and hope.
Somehow we’ll get through this; we’ll learn how to cope.
I lost my dear husband one cold winter’s eve.
My son needs me strong now, there’s no time to grieve.
Full Military Honors, with God he now rests.
Bruised, battered, and broken,“Dear Lord, no more tests.”

Out on a mission somewhere in Iraq,
my son’s Unit came under enemy attack.
The Army soon came, I heard the doorbell.
I felt my heart sinking to the darkest of hell:
“Ma’am, we are sorry to be here tonight,
Your son died a Hero; he fought a good fight.
We’re here to support you and do what we can.
Against an evil enemy, your son took a stand.”

In less than a year my world fell apart.
Nothing breaks harder than a Mother’s pure heart.
His services now over, with his Father he stands tall:
“God, help me feel now; I gave you my all.”

No jacka$$ maybe it was because I wasn't even born yet!

And as much of an a$$ as you are (cause I've read through your posts) I would still stand at your grave side and render honors, if you really did serve!! Because that is what every veteran deserves!

Good morning!!!

Traveling Soldier - Dixie Chicks

Two days past eighteen
He was waiting for the bus in his army greens
Sat down in a booth in a cafe there
Gave his order to a girl with a bow in her hair
He's a little shy so she gives him a smile
And he said would you mind sittin' down for a while
And talking to me, I'm feeling a little low
She said I'm off in an hour and I know where we can go

So they went down and they sat on the pier
He said I bet you got a boyfriend but I don't care
I got no one to send a letter to
Would you mind if I sent one back here to you

Chorus: I cried
Never gonna hold the hand of another guy
Too young for him they told her
Waitin' for the love of a travelin' soldier
Our love will never end
Waitin' for the soldier to come back again
Never more to be alone when the letter said
A soldier's coming home

So the letters came from an army camp
In California then Vietnam
And he told her of his heart
It might be love and all of the things he was so scared of
He said when it's getting kinda rough over here
I think of that day sittin' down at the pier
And I close my eyes and see your pretty smile
Don't worry but I won't be able to write for awhile

Chorus: I cried
Never gonna hold the hand of another guy
Too young for him they told her
Waitin' for the love of a travelin' soldier
Our love will never end
Waitin' for the soldier to come back again
Never more to be alone when the letter said
A soldier's coming home

One Friday night at a football game
The Lord's prayer said and the Anthem sang
A man said folks would you bow your heads
For a list of local Vietnam dead
Crying all alone under the stands
Was a piccolo player in the marching band
And one name read and nobody really cared
But a pretty little girl with a bow in her hair

Chorus: I cried
Never gonna hold the hand of another guy
Too young for him they told her
Waitin' for the love of a travelin' soldier
Our love will never end
Waitin' for the soldier to come back again
Never more to be alone when the letter says
A soldier's coming
Chorus: I cried
Never gonna hold the hand of another guy
Too young for him they told her
Waitin' for the love of a travelin' soldier
Our love will never end
Waitin' for the soldier to come back again
Never more to be alone when the letter says
A soldier's coming home

If you stop trolling and stick to the subject ..... "The Armed Forces" then you won't be so hated. Looks like you're "on the rag" again, RedButt. Try Exedrin or Bayer. It won't stop your flow but it might keep you from making an azz of yourself on topix. There's a good boy.

At least you are honourable. You should tell RedButt Herpies that. He slanders and lies about people whose opinion he doesn't like and he doesn't care if you are a veteran.

I may not agree with you very often but at least you are miles above that jerk.

SHE’LL CRY

She’ll cry through ten hours of labor,
Giving birth to each precious child.
A Mother knows time is so fleeting
For they’re hers for just a short while.

She’ll cry with every lost tooth,
Saving each, a sweet treasured prize.
A Mother becomes multi-talented,
An expert in her children’s eyes.

She’ll cry on the first day of school,
Standing just outside the classroom door.
It’s hard for a Mother to know,
She’s not needed ‘that much’ any more.

She’ll cry with every wet drawing,
They hand her with tiny ink stained hands,
Masterpieces she’ll forever cherish,
All part of Creator’s great plans.

She’ll cry when they go off to college,
And more when they graduate.
Though grown, they’re still her babies;
In God a Mother leaves her faith.

She’ll cry when he takes that oath,
To serve his Country with pride.
Patience, a virtue she’s learning,
While boarding the ‘roller coaster ride’.

She’ll cry with each of his letters,
Reading with vision so blurred.
Each line is etched in her heart,
For, a Mother cherishes each word.

She’ll cry right there in the airport,
Searching through a vast ‘sea’ of men.
His face, she finds in an instant,
Her baby is home safe again.

She’ll cry as she smiles down from Heaven,
On the family her love helped create,
God cradles each Mother with His rainbows,
While in Heaven, shell patiently wait.

Shes lost in a place
She hardly can face
The night draws her in
It wants to make friends
Shes tangled in fear
She doesnt't't see
Shes beautiful
Shes strong and she's free
But shell climb
And shell cry
And one day shell reach up
Grab on to the sky
And shell fly, Shell find her wings
Wipe off the dust, Peel off the rust
And shell fly, Shell finally see

Shes everything, She always doubted she'd be
And shell fly
This big old world
It needs this girl
It needs her smile
And her inner child
Her love and her grace
Because there is a space
For her to fill
And one day she will
And shell try
Shell realize
That she can do anything
Then shell close her eyes

THE AMERICAN SOLDIER

Here’s to the man I love like no other,
Much more than a friend, he is my brother.
As autumn’s sun fades and winter draws near,
A lone Soldier’s eyes shed silent, cold tears.

He lives the effects of a war – ravaged soul,
Waking with nightmares, burning yet cold.
Once a strong body is now withered and gray,
Each day’s the same with death one breath away.

Some decades ago he joined the Marine Corps,
Gone are the reasons of what he fought for.
Too young to vote or buy his favorite brew,
He’s sent off to war and told what to do.

Fighting and dying in the jungles of ‘Nam,
Many young boys grew fast into a man.
Horrors were witnessed as one by one fell;
Heaven stood waiting as they exited that hell.

One tour became two and then he stopped counting,
He’s now an Outlaw and Charlie’s his bounty.
Too many deaths rest on his shoulders:
Deep in the jungles, his soul wilts and grows older.

Some thirty years later he visits a Wall;
With each name he touches a face is recalled.
Lost in the past, daylight soon fades;
One solitary figure still patiently waits.

An American Flag is pinned to his vest,
A symbol of honor for his Country’s best.
Somewhere near midnight he heaves a deep sigh,
“Save me a place, Bro’, for my time draws nigh.’

Here’s to a man who’ll grieve never more,
Peace has been found; he’s no longer at war.
At God’s mighty throne, he rests with his brothers,
Here’s to our Heroes, the American Soldiers.
