"If Not For You"

If not for you, babe, I couldn't find the door
Couldn't even see the floor
I'd be sad and blue if not for you.

If not for you, baby, I'd lay awake all night
Wait for the morning light
To shine in through
But it will not be new if not for you.

If not for you, my sky would fall, rain would gather too
Without your love I'd be nowhere at all
I'd be lost if not for you
And you know it's true.

If not for you, my sky would fall, rain would gather too
Without your love I'd be nowhere at all
Oh what would I do if not for you ?

If not for you, winter would have no spring
I couldn't hear the robins sing
I just wouldn't have a clue
Anyway it wouldn't ring true if not for you
If not for you, if not for you.

If I should die before I wake,
I pray my sins have been erased.
A Soldier’s soul will now be free,
For blood I shed for my Country.

If just once I have no dreams,
Of seas of blood and soldiers’ screams,
Tomorrow’s dawn is worth the wait,
Don’t weep for me, for it’s too late.

If war is just and sanctified,
When will sins be rectified?
For just one hill or mountain top,
Who declares it’s worth the cost?

If I shed tears o’er brothers past,
Just walk on by for tears dry fast.
Memories are all I own,
Each precious name that’s carved in stone.

If there’s a place beyond the sky,
Where Soldiers gather with clearer eyes.
You’ll find me there with many men;
A Warrior’s mission never ends.

If you find peace in my last farewell,
Know I died that you may tell,
Those brave men who still stand tall,
How proud you are they guard those walls.

If a bugle echoes that lonesome sound,
Just one salute will be my crown.
Shed no tears for I am gone,
These Soldier’s boots have now found home.

Yep! The more American soldeiers that are abroad in Irak and Afghanistan the better the United Snakes is protected from those Pig Dogs. Of course, it is not in least protected from civil madmen and serial killers and mass murderers, but what the hey! It's better than nuthin'!

LORD HAVE MERCY

IWVPA Double Tap Award for War Poetry: May 26, 2007
Awarded: May 26, 2007The sun rose this morning in a sky, oh so blue.
When making their coffee, if only she knew.
The mountains before her she’d soon have to climb,
She’d crawl under the covers and pray for more time.

Her husband’s a good man, they married for life,
In love with each other, she enjoys being his wife.
Together their children were raised to be strong,
Have faith in their Savior; with Him you can’t go wrong.

Their daughter’s a mommy, for just this past summer,
Twins entered their lives; she’s now a grandmother.
A son in the Army, another serves in the Corp,
Faith deeply tested when both went off to war.

Both wrote home often to keep them abreast,
Letters she treasures, she stores in a chest.
They met at the airport when each got a break,
She cherished each visit, the photos she’d take!

She heard the car door, somehow she knew,
These men in crisp uniforms were bringing bad news.
A chopper went down; one son was on board,
Gasping for breath, oh how her heart tore.

She called her husband,“honey, what’s wrong?”
The words rushed out quickly,“Our son is gone.”
He grabbed his keys, flew out the shop door,
Missed the stop light, now she’s lost one more.

Hearing the sirens, her daughter telephoned,
“There’s a wreck on the highway; is daddy not home?
I’ll be on my way, the twins I must pick up.”
In her haste to get home, she missed a blind curve.

Another car slowly came up the drive,
Even more bad news, her other son has died.
A bomb exploded, they said it was an IED,
Killed all aboard of his armored humvee.

Her mind is now numb, her soul is so cold;
Reeling from shock of the news they have told.
The tears started falling, she slipped to the floor:
“Take me dear God, I can’t take anymore.”

She cried, she prayed, she did her best;
She laid six loved ones down to rest.
For ten long years, she lived alone,
Now this Angel is going home.

Thank You for Serving

On your hardest day and coldest night
While lying there before the fight
Let us be your guiding light
Thank You for Serving

For all the fallen and all the rest
Know in your heart you are the best
In the struggle for freedoms plight
Thank You for Serving

From valleys and hills across the land
We stand proud to sing this song
In our hearts we believe in you
Thank You for Serving

All that have served they understand
Honor and duty is the strength of a man
Protecting freedom and our land
Thank You for Serving

While all alone on the darkest night.
A band of brothers caught in the fight
In our prayers that’s where you’ll be
Thank You for Serving

They serve our county for you and me
Fighting terror and tyranny
Made of iron with golden hearts

Thank You for Serving

The Eagles of America Stand

Our Eagles of America still stand, more than any land.
There in Iraq, they stand and some go to the Heavenly band.
Their motto is; America is worth fighting for; their love.
I know our Lord watches o’er them, from Heaven above.

Some wounded, some die there and again some come home.
Some see the death of friends and feel so all alone.
I pray God to protect these American eagles every day.
He is their maker; He is their Redeemer all the long way.

We pray for you all, men and women of the USA today.
I know before you go into battle; you kneel down and pray.
We stand behind you here; we gladly cheer you all on.
Soon we pray that our God in Heaven will bring you home.

We are so in awe of your strength and stamina to stand.
Knowing in an instant (you could be killed), for this land.
It is your land Eagles, of the USA; you are the very best.
Who are the others in the world that could take this test?

I pray all of you know we are with you one hundred percent
When Uncle Sam called, you fluffed those wings and went.
God bring back our people soon; we ask in Jesus name.
Keep them all safe dear Lord; let none be crippled nor maimed.

MOM’S LITTLE MAN

Her tears silently fall as she walked in the rain;
The joy of her life had just boarded that plane.
She knew it was coming when he joined the Marine Corps,
But, how does a Mom send her son off to war?

Unlocking her car in that remote terminal lot,
On the seat lay a package he must’ve forgot.
Soaked to the skin, she touched it with care,
“Mom, this is for you, for when I’m not there.”

“Dear God, won’t you help me?” She begged and she prayed,
“Teach me the faith I’ll need every day.”
Drying her eyes, her hands traced those lines;
She cranked up the engine and tried to buy time.

Not knowing his thoughts as he left this for her,
Her heart started racing, fearing the worst.
A most beautiful box under paper concealed;
Her first ray of sunshine, for his love she could feel.

He’d cut out a shape, using paper and glue,
“I’m leaving my heart until I come home to you.
Blue is your color and I knew you would laugh,
Remembering the good times from days of our past.

I’ll never repay you for all you have done,
Raising a child as both Father and Mom.
The pictures of Dad and stories we shared,
Made me believe he was always right there.

I wish I had known him, but he died when I was two,
Fighting for Country, as I’m about to.
You gave me your all and I turned out ok,
My only regret is leaving you this way.

I have to believe you knew I would go,
Following his footsteps and chasing his shadow.
Feel in this heart, the love and the pride,
Hold onto your faith in the darkest of nights.

Now, dry up those tears and head to the store,
Here is a list and I know you’ll send more.
I’ll call when I can and promise to write soon,
Remember to tape my favorite cartoons!”

As she folded his letter, her heart drew a smile,
“Lord, I do thank you for you’ve made it worthwhile.
Take care of my son as he fights for this land,
He may be a Warrior, but he’s Mom’s Little Man.”

"I SAW YOUR MOMMY"

Yesterday as I went out the house
I saw her body lying down as quiet as a mouse
She was lying face down in the sewer
What you do-I got up closer and realized that I knew her
What you see-All her organs coming from her inside
That's nasty-Slashed up skin, sliced-up hide
Tell me some more-I turned her over and saw the tire tracks on her head
Then what-That's when I realized she was dead

Twisted body, chopped-off feet
Her body was minced meat
Bugs crawling on her arms
She's dead can't do no harm
Gnarled-up legs, broken and bent
Her last breath has been spent

I wonder how much you had to pay
To get your mom killed in such a bloody way

I saw your mommy and your mommy is dead
I watched her as she bled
Well she had-Chewed-off toes on her chopped-off feet
Say what?-I took a picture 'cause I thought it looked neat
That's cold-But the thing I liked seeing the best
What's that-Were the rodents using her hair as a nest
Damn-I saw your mommy and your mommy's dead
Say what?-I saw your mommy and your mommy's dead

Twisted body, chopped-off feet
Her body was minced meat
Bugs crawling on her arms
She's dead can't do no harm
Gnarled-up legs, broken and bent
Her last breath has been spent

I know it is your allowance that you'll really miss
But make it look good at her funeral and give her little kiss

I saw your mommy and your mommy's dead
I saw her lying in a pool of red-And she don't know how to swim
I think it's the greatest thing I'll ever see-What's that?
Your dead mommy lying in front of me-Ba doo be do
I'll always remember her lying dead on the floor-Ba doo be va
I hope she dies twenty times more

I saw your mommy and your mommy is dead
I saw your mommy and your mommy is dead

Twisted body, chopped-off feet
Her body was minced meat
Bugs crawling on her arms
She's dead can't do no harm
Gnarled-up legs, broken and bent
Her last breath has been spent

I wonder how much you had to pay

I saw her, I saw her...mommy
