Thank you for your post Rick.
It sounds like you and daughters have a cushy TG day planned. What's better than a grandma's house during holidays? Even a 'borrowed' grandma. Ha!
You all are delightful. Thank you very much for these great posts!
Now, lets get to work and nag Spirit for that eggnog pie recipe. Haha!
My Grandma's Dressing
Small 8x8 pan yellow cornbread
4 slices each white, wheat and rye breads, toasted crispy.
Crumbled all the breads together.
1 small yellow onion diced
2 boiled eggs- diced (You might want to use just one. These were small yard eggs, compared to today's store bought)
2 stalks celery- de-stringed and diced
About a tablespoon each of:
(Yes, just like the song ;)
A healthy shake to taste of salt and pepper.
She tossed all the ingredients, except the eggs, together and let them set covered over night to blend the flavors.
Next morning she added the eggs and her (shameful) secret ingredient~
a can of Campbell's cream of chicken soup diluted with just enough hot water to bind the dressing together.
Stuff the bird or bake it on the side for about 25-30 minutes.
I do makes these every year....Toffee with Saltines!
