This is a beautiful flash greeting to everyone for Christmas. Just click onto the link. From our home to yours...Merry Christmas and have a blessed New Year..2006

(THIS IS AUTHENIC)

It's dangerous for everyone to give out their home address so I thought this would be a good way to wish everyone a wonderful holiday season. You can even post links for your own cards, too.

La Sunshine, we once spoke about being psychic, well you could've read my mind.

I was thinking that someone might bring up a thread with regar to Christmas songs. I was putting the spotlight on carols, i.e, What is your favourite carol and importantly, WHY? IN ASKING "WHY' It can tell, more directly what Christmas means to each one:

My choice, tho' I love ALL Christmas music, my choice of carol has ALWAYS been

"IN THE BLEAK MID WINTER''

''In the bleak mid winter, frosty winds may moan
Earth stood hard as iron, water like a stone.
Snow had fallen, snow on snow.
Snow on snow,
In the bleak mid winter
Long ago.

Our God, Heaven cannot hold Him
Nor earth can sustain;
Heaven and earth shall flee away
When He comes to reign;
In the bleak mid winter
A stable place sufficed,
The Lord God Almighty
Jesus Christ:

Angels and Arch Angels may have gathered there.
Cherubim and Seraphim.
Throughout the air.
But only His mother in her maiden bliss
Worshipped her beloved
With a kiss.

What shall I give Him, poor as I am,
If I were a shepherd, I would give a lamb.
If I were a wise man, I would do my part.
What shall I give?
I'll give my heart:

The reason I chose this one is, that it is the very essence of beauty both in its sacred and moving lyrics and it pure and simple melody. It captures, at the same time, the true message of Christmas and the heart of winter and fuses the two together in absolute perfection.

The first time I heard this carol, it was delivered by a boy soprano whose angelic voice reverberated in its lofty tones round a great Cathedral, yet, all the time retaining its utter simplicity and fragile beauty. This carol is a gem. just look at the last verse, such a potent message delivered with such simplicity.. Tears ran down my face that first night I heard it, and for some strange reason, although,I have heard it many many times since and it always has the same effect in bringing tears to my eyes, albeit, in a joyful way:

Thank you Mommy, coming along nicely now, thanks. Yes, they will all be home for Christmas.. How will it be with regard to Chris? I am sure one way or another, you and he will be together.

I like your choice Mommy, My choice of other Christmas songs would be " I'll be home for Christmas'' and I have a special liking for John Lennon's ''Happy Christmas (War is over)'' very meaningful. I also like "I saw three ships a sailing by on Christmas day in the morning' very old world... and I LOVE our own Shane McGowen's ''Fairytale of New York'' do you folks know this one>"Fairytale of New York'?

Mommy please, if you can, let us know about Chris, how is he? and what are the Christmas arrangements? Thank you.

Chris called 4 times yesterday and wants all of this over as much as we do. West Georgia is dragging their butts picking him up and decided they can't do the evaluation until January sometimes. The DA and his attorney said no way! I feel he will be home for Christmas, we're praying for that anyway.
His spirits are so good and he's hanging in there the best he knows how. As long as they keep feeding and spoiling him he will be fine. He gets books, crayons, cards, etc. daily and special foods he likes..thank you for asking. I needed the chance to talk about my baby!! XX

Shane McGowen - Fairytale Of New York

It was Christmas Eve babe
In the drunk tank
An old man said to me, won't see another one
And then he sang a song
The Rare Old Mountain Dew
I turned my face away
And dreamed about you

Got on a lucky one
Came in eighteen to one
I've got a feeling
This year's for me and you
So happy Christmas
I love you baby
I can see a better time
When all our dreams come true

They've got cars big as bars
They've got rivers of gold
But the wind goes right through you
It's no place for the old
When you first took my hand
On a cold Christmas Eve
You promised me
Broadway was waiting for me

You were handsome
You were pretty
Queen of New York City
When the band finished playing
They howled out for more
Sinatra was swinging,
All the drunks they were singing
We kissed on a corner
Then danced through the night

The boys of the NYPD choir
Were singing "Galway Bay"
And the bells were ringing out
For Christmas day

You're a bum
You're a punk
You're an old slut on junk
Lying there almost dead on a drip in that bed
You scumbag, you maggot
You cheap lousy faggot
Happy Christmas your arse
I pray God it's our last

I could have been someone
Well so could anyone
You took my dreams from me
When I first found you
I kept them with me babe
I put them with my own
Can't make it all alone
I've built my dreams around you

Mommy, first thanks for the news on Chris, glad that he is happy enough, that means a lot, thank God.

Yes the Fairytale of New York is great, thanks for highlighting it. Shane has a 'drink' problem but is a tlented song writer.

That was a real treat re John Lennon's museum piece, a bonus to see the original of the song. THANK YOU so much Mommy .. I'm sure Eleanorigby will be delighted with that [if she hasn't already seen it]. xx

Grace, you're as welcome as welcome can be. I love Christmas songs, lights, hustle of shoppers, and the main thing, the play at church recreating the birth of Christ..all so beautiful. T hree of our kids asked for this year are portable CD players. They have gotten one the past two years in a row and they just don't last a year..lol!
Amy wants paints, Leigh-Anne wants shoes, and David wants a present, he said he didn't care. AND CHRIS! He wants a Nextel cell phone, insurance on his car, his motor mount replaced on his car, a job at Honda Lock, a trip to Tennessee for Christmas, seat covers and floor mats for his car, the gas tank to be filled up, clothes, shoes and an electric blanket. I think I remembered everything he asked for..he is something else but I love him for who he is. He will settle for a box of chocolate covered cherries!! We wish all of you get everything you heart desires this Christmas. All I ask for is for God to bless and keep us safe and healthy and for my son to come home soon. Jeannie

I LOVE "Fairytale of New York" Grace, I have it on
cd, sung by Kirsty McColl and The Pogues, and the one you mention of John Lennon's is very appropriate for this time. I love all his songs.

Grace.....you taught me something today, I never realised Shane McGowan was formerly with the Pogues, just googled his name, how very interesting, he is now of The Popes, I am heading back to google to catch up on that. X

I am so moved by the beautiful lyrics of "Fairytale of New York", and the icing
on the cake, John Lennon singing "Happy Christmas"
and then to see his boyish, upright (as he was)
handwriting - I can't thank you ladies enough.
Thank You Grace and Jeannie.

Hi everybody, nice to see you Grace,(Fáilte ar ais)

One of my favourite Christmas songs in the Original German
Stille Nacht (GERMAN)

Stille Nacht! Heil'ge Nacht!
Alles schläft; einsam wacht
Nur das traute hoch heilige Paar.
Holder Knab' im lockigen Haar,
Schlafe in himmlischer Ruh!:|

Stille Nacht! Heil'ge Nacht!
Gottes Sohn, o wie lacht
Lieb' aus deinem göttlichen Mund,
Da uns schlägt die rettende Stund'.
Jesus in deiner Geburt!:|

Stille Nacht! Heil'ge Nacht!
Die der Welt Heil gebracht,
Aus des Himmels goldenen Höhn,
Uns der Gnaden Fülle läßt sehn,
Jesus in Menschengestalt!:|

Stille Nacht! Heil'ge Nacht!
Wo sich heut alle Macht
Väterlicher Liebe ergoß,
Und als Bruder huldvoll umschloß
Jesus die Völker der Welt!:|

5. Stille Nacht! Heil'ge Nacht!
Lange schon uns bedacht,
Als der Herr vom Grimme befreit
In der Väter urgrauer Zeit
Aller Welt Schonung verhieß!:|

Stille Nacht! Heil'ge Nacht!
Hirten erst kundgemacht
Durch der Engel Alleluja,
Tönt es laut bei Ferne und Nah:
"Jesus der Retter ist da!" :|
