What is really at stake is government tax dollars paying big corporate executives money for their hardware and software systems plus the astronomical number of software contractors needed to install these systems that no one understands, except it has far reaching eyes into everyones private lives. These systems are mostly used to collect data on Americans - even though they down play that aspect. That data may or may not go anywhere unless one someone in the NSA is bored and wants to investigate someone - such as a blogger.
American security is at stake mostly because they all but erased privacy. And it costs the taxpayer a lot of money to let the government override the Bill of Rights and Constitution.

As popular as it might seem to blame Bush/Cheney for this, the fact is that it was Clinton who passed CALEA in 1994.

Barry is working on the updated version.

Do not be afraid good citizens, the NSA is our friend and protector. It only uses it's power against bad people. Those who agree with our leader will not be harmed.

By backwards hacking in, I sure understand a great deal. Uh Clem, you pay way too much in taxes! Dragoon, your email is hilarious! Slack, you will eventually be caught for that child porn. I am having sensory overload, there's so much raw data! I may need a few terabytes of extra memory.
