Judged: 1 1 1 The petition is on an official White House website; Piers Morgan points that out himself. Why is our President supporting these demagogic attacks on political speech? |

Judged: 1 1 1 You need someone to read for you? Do nyou realize that each and every presidency has to setup an avenue for petitioning? So if I mail the White House a petition, using your thinking, the US Mail Service is White House sponsored also? How about the paper in which I write or type the petition on? How about the computor? Damn White House. You ate a lot of lead paint chips when you were a kid, didn't you? |

Judged: 1 1 1 Can you find the google cache for Bush's petition website? . How's that the same as hosting a petition on an official White House website calling for the deportation of a political commentator? . On this, we agree. Obama is using hate politics to distract from the issues. His administration allowed guns to go to Mexican drug gangs and murder US agents and many Mexican civilians. Obama's idea of gun control is very strange. . That's just insult, why can't you discuss the issues? |

Judged: 1 1 1 It's called the right to petition and is guaranteed by the First Amendment to the federal constitution, which specifically prohibits Congress from abridging "the right of the people...to petition the Government for a redress of grievances." Providing an avenue for American citizens to petition the federal government has been in existence since the 1st Ammendment's writing. Congress is prohibited from restricting the right of American citizens to petition the government under the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, adopted in 1791. The authors of the amendment surely had no idea just how easy it would become to petition the government in the age of the Internet more than 200 years later. President Barack Obama, whose White House was the first to use social media such as Twitter and Facebook, launched the first online tool allowing citizens to petition the government through an official website in 2011. The program, called We the People, allows users to create and sign petitions on any topic. The program, called We the People, allows users to create and sign petitions on any topic. "When I ran for this office, I pledged to make government more open and accountable to its citizens," Obama said in announcing the program in September 2011. "That's what the new We the People feature on WhiteHouse.gov is all about - giving Americans a direct line to the White House on the issues and concerns that matter most to them." The Obama White House often portrayed itself as one of the most transparent to the public in modern history. Obama's first executive order, for example, directed the Obama White House to shed more light on presidential records. Obama has, however, come under fire for operated behind closed doors. The We the People tool allows Americans over the age of 13 to create and sign petitions on www.whitehouse.gov asking the Obama administration to "take action on a range of important issues facing our country." All that is required is a valid email address. "Creating or signing a petition is just the first step. It's up to you to build support for a petition and gather even more signatures. Use email, Facebook, Twitter and word of mouth to tell your friends, family and coworkers about the petitions you care about," the White House said. The Obama administration promised that any petition that has 5,000 signatures attached to it will be sent to the "appropriate policymakers." "If a petition meets the signature threshold, it will be reviewed by the Administration and an official response will be issued," the administration said. |

Judged: 1 1 1 Have you seen the other petitions on this website? Among the more humerous are: Make the Metric system the standard in the United States, instead of the Imperial system. Cease the harmful public education policies relying on standardized testing. Impeach the GOP Congress, immediately withhold their pay and all benefits. Make this retroactive to 11-7-2012. Expedite the process of obtaining a Green Card. There are election rigging made by Progressive Program that have been used in the 18th Presidential Election of S. KOREA Allow the import and sale of Kinder Surprise Eggs in the United States. Put Prayer Back in School. Ban Dianne Feinstein. ********** Oh yeah, the White House "sponsers" all of these. |

I give Obama excellent marks for being a good father. Now as far as being president , well nothing comes to mind except to lower the bar on what it means to be an American. Even in the worst of times we should remind ourselves how lucky we are to be born in the greatest nation on earth. Our politicians suck , our economy sucks , but I can think of no where I would rather be . http://www.youtube.com/watch... |

Have you ever bothered to read the statistical data on the so-called gun show loophole? Most of the vendors at the gun shows I’ve attended are licensed dealers and must perform the background checks. If it’s determined you’re in the business of selling arms you had better get your FFL or face charges. The term gun show loophole has been abused by the media. Of the guns sold at the shows along the border how many ended up in Mexico? What percentage of firearms used in crimes in America can be traced to gun shows? You may not like what you find if you honestly research it. VPC and Brady Campaign will distort the figures. Look at all sources both biased and neutral. Have you ever researched the terms assault weapon and tactical weapon? Add a feature or two and a firearm will meet the political definition of assault weapon. Paint it black and it becomes tactical. |

Once again, anyone can create a petition on the “official” site. Just click on create petition. The president doesn’t support what’s on the website. There’s a current petition to ban Dianne Feinstein with 9,581 signatures. One to Try Feinstein in federal court for treason to the constitution. One to officially recognize the Roman Catholic Church as a hate group. Eliminate armed guards for the President, Vice-President and their families. And to establish gun free zones around them. Finally, there’s one to impeach Obama listed. Do you really think the president endorses all the petitions listed? |

Come on man, this is the same old NRA rhetoric. The NRA is nothing but a glorified "snake oil salesman." They offer impossible solutions (aka: arming teachers, armed police in schools, etc.) hoping that by the time the general public actually researches the improbabilities of said plans, all this "massacre" stuff will blow over and forgotten. In the program I mentioned, they take hidden camera's to border town gun shows. They buy the assault weapons with no background checks and then get approached in the parking lots by Mexican nationals offering to buy the weapons - cash money. The proof is in the video tape. I could care less what the bias or neutral sources say - the bottom line is that the 2nd Ammendment wasn't written to protect the rights of child killers. |

No, I'll bet they are a waste of time. . Thanks for proving my point. . I never used the word 'sponsor'; I said Obama's official White House website hosts a petition to deport a political commentator for his political speech. It's disgusting demagoguery! If you want to solve our political problems you have to move past hate politics. Name-calling isn't civil discourse. |

I always thought one had to have a certain minimum intelligence level to gleen a Topix account - that was until I saw your posts. What does the 1st Ammendment say about petitions and the federal government? The White House is providing an internet option for American citizens to draft and submit petitions. The White House is not and cannot be responsible for the content of any petitions on this website - as useless as petitions are. It is the responsibility of the person that drafts the petition as to the content. Why is this so hard for you to get into that pea brain of your's? |

Just as Topix is responsible for posts published on it's web page and uses the Terms of Service to delete inappropriate posts; so does Obama's White House and its website. I oppose demagogic attacks on political opponents or hate based politicas and Mil. defends them; this is where we differ. |
