Ummmm,,,excuse me...The scripture you are quoting rather badly is where God confused the tongues because they were building a tower to Heaven. And God said, "look what man is about to do". That tells me it's within our reach and ours for the taking if we only become one with one another as God intended us to be. All humans living on the earth.
Hmmm. No cows? No horses? Then what would be left for humans to mistreat?

Why do they call it "marrying" when a server is refilling the salt, pepper, ketchup, mustard and salsa jars?
Or watering the ketchup?

It doesn't seem possible or even logical to me, that 2 people could be responsible for the entire human race. It's one of the first stories in the Bible and it's beautiful, but is it 100% accurate? I personally don't know. Many people become angry when you question the Bible's authenticity. If I wrote a story and buried it in a cave somewhere and someone found it a thousand years from now, do you think anyone would believe it? It could be true, and then again, maybe not. the point is, who would really know for certain? I'm not implying that God isn't real or doesn't exist; only that stories seem to become embellished or inaccurate over time. Man has a great imagination. If we didn't, we'd still be living in the dark ages.
Here's the real story. The original two people were actually Adam and Irving. Then they got a female to play Irving to avoid any controversy. That's why they called him "Irving the Cute". Since that title was too long for the marquee, Irving the Cute was renamed "Eve". Today we're still trying to find the logic in that.

It was my contention that God only confused the languages and not the races....let's look a little farther in your Bible....
Gen. 6:9
9 Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the Lord did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the Lord scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth.

This is the post I was responding to. It says nothing about race, only language.

Just wondering what others opinions on this might be.
And how many languages did Adam and Eve know to teach Cain so that they too could be passed on to the other races.

Adam and Eve a serious discussion? The Tooth Fairy is a serious discussion.

The argument in this thread is not making sense to me.

One is saying that God wants all united in His glory to obtain Heaven.

The other quotes what is supposed to be Gods words as stating just the opposite.

His intentions were clearly to divide and prevent humans from knowledge.

Even from exchanging knowledge amongst each other.

The whole original sin was mans seeking knowledge.
That to me does not sound like a benevolent being.

I also find it intriguing that Gods "speaks" in plural form in many verses.

Allen Richards had the language part right...but if you look at the name "Ham"...It means black...Let me ask you???..How hard would it be for the creator of the universe to make someone Black??? Are you so naive??? His arm is not short. Nothing is too hard for him., lol!!!

Like it says in 1 Corinthians...by the wisdom of this world...NO ONE will ever know him.

It's by faith from first to last....

Believe me...just trying to help...for all the good it will do!!!

God does want unity among his people but not to the exclusion of Him. At the tower of Babel people were trying to get to God through their own efforts.

Christians have an answer for that.

I find it rather amusing God considered flooding the earth and decided instead to spare Noah. We are supposed to believe this story was written in the beginning.
You might realize....as it is called, the books of Moses....lol

Enoch had many writings...what else do you want to dispute??? Just asking????

I find your interpretation interesting,
but not a satisfactory answer
to the questions I have.

It's been suggested
that any group that studied the bible
and built tenets or a church upon it,
had answers for the
inexplicable contradictions
through out the entire book.

That made them no less
contradictions or plausible.

Thank you for replying to my previous posts.

At the time of the tower of Babel, the languages were confused according to the book of Genesis. If God could confuse the languages, he certainly had the power to change the physical appearances of the many peoples and adapted them to the climate they were sent to.

You have it just about right. I asked the question and it was open to all. So, we are hearing from anyone and everyone on their opinions and beliefs. I think my actual topic got way laid. lol

You will notice that I did not put this in the Christian forum because I did not want them to cliam ownership because it happened to be under a Christian forum. And besides, here, I get more real answers. I like that. I'm all about honesty.

Bright thoughts,
Mrs Whitewater
