Just wondering what others opinions on this might be.

And how many languages did Adam and Eve know to teach Cain so that they too could be passed on to the other races.

Bright Thoughts,

I read a novel many years ago, and can't remember the name of it to my chagrin.

After a few pages reader might have recognized it as a re-writing of Genesis in modern form.

The story line was about a pod of modern day humans settled in an utopia bubble on a primitive planet.

An accidental discovery occurred and they became aware of sexuality.
This caused pregnancy's and a population to form.
When the second generation reached adulthood, the problem of finding mates arose.
This generation left the utopia and met with the planets original inhabitants;
a lessor developed race of hominids known as Homo-sapians and the Neanderthals....

I don't remember any more of the story line, only that the book made so much sense to me at the time.

Wish I could remember the title and read it again.

Ummmm,,,excuse me...The scripture you are quoting rather badly is where God confused the tongues because they were building a tower to Heaven. And God said, "look what man is about to do". That tells me it's within our reach and ours for the taking if we only become one with one another as God intended us to be. All humans living on the earth.

Why do they call it "marrying" when a server is refilling the salt, pepper, ketchup, mustard and salsa jars?

It doesn't seem possible or even logical to me, that 2 people could be responsible for the entire human race. It's one of the first stories in the Bible and it's beautiful, but is it 100% accurate? I personally don't know. Many people become angry when you question the Bible's authenticity. If I wrote a story and buried it in a cave somewhere and someone found it a thousand years from now, do you think anyone would believe it? It could be true, and then again, maybe not. the point is, who would really know for certain? I'm not implying that God isn't real or doesn't exist; only that stories seem to become embellished or inaccurate over time. Man has a great imagination. If we didn't, we'd still be living in the dark ages.

Please 'splain to me how I can "rather badly" quote something when I C/P it verbatim?
<><
According to my Bible it does not say "about to do." They began to build a tower trying to reach heaven. That does not tell me that actually attaining heaven was within their grasp. And OBTW that is according to the Jewish Publication Society translation.
<><
JPS Gen 11:6 And the LORD said:'Behold, they are one people, and they have all one language; and this is what they begin to do; and now nothing will be withholden from them, which they purpose to do.

It was my contention that God only confused the languages and not the races....let's look a little farther in your Bible....

Gen. 6:9
9 Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the Lord did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the Lord scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth.

An "accidental discovery", eh? I wonder if it was the same discovery I had when I was 11 years old.

Well, it is when the server takes the old bottles and puts them together. Two half full bottles of ketchup would make one and so on. This is called "marring" the condiments.

The word marry and marrying are also found in cooking. It is when a chef unites flavors together to make one flavor.

You really need to come into the 21 century.
