Hmmmm as just sitting here, watching World News..and WONDERING...With all the chaos in the World... IF these folks were HAPPY...Would they be creating this STRIFE ??? ROCKERS, When you look in the mirror... CAN you actually be Truthful.. and Tell yourself... THAT you are HAPPY at that EXACT MOMENT???..

Or, DO you have to take a few seconds AND contemplate WHAT makes YOU Happy??.. Is it the Love of your Life, your Sibling, your Children, your trusting pet, your neighborhood, your job...WHAT EXACTLY IS IT??

WHAT is that ONE HAPPY Reason THAT you are Thankful for and WOULDN'T change, EVER??

Very good thread,

I suppose 'no one' is happy every minute
of every day, as,'ups and downs'
go hand in hand with daily living,
and maybe that's not a bad thing to
keep us on our toes!
otherwise boredom could set in.

'Reasonable health' is one major
plus to remain happy and thankful for.

during the day - yes
but
sometimes when im in bed and its quiet, I think about the things that make me unhappy, things I cant change, the people that have come and gone in my life....
even so, the sun comes out the next day and I feel just fine - life goes on, and yes for the most part I feel truly happy and "blessed"

cant ask for anything better than that.

I agree. and, yes, I AM happy.

“The greater part of our happiness or misery depends upon our dispositions, and not upon our circumstances.”

This is attributed to Martha Washington, I have this written on a piece of paper and taped to the wall above the spot where I take the mug shots and issues IDs. It's a reminder to myself and the inmates, that we always have a choice.

I, personadlly don't see it as being that simple ,
sometimes disasters come crashing
into our lives, robbing us of
happiness, through no fault of our
own, ie the unexpected death of a child
or spouse:
a car crash: sudden devastating illness:

these we do not choose, nor
do we choose the unhappiness that
inevitadbly
accompanies them.. and, whereas,
we can adapt later on somehow,
tho' some never do...
it is never easy.

wow Pfff, that is so dead on....
I think "happy" is an overrated word..
A big fat juicy bacon cheeseburger makes me happy...
I think "life" is about finding beauty and contentment in the moments you have...and being at peace...
I can have the world, but if I have a fender bender on the way home, I am not going to be "happy"

I wake up every day happy. It's what goes on during the day that screws everything up.

And I do agree with Cindy. I truely believe that being happy is a choice. That's what I tell that crabass I live with at least once a day anyway....

Happiness is a choice .....

I agree . It is all in who you choose to be around and what you choose to do (given the right path or choice).

Choose wisely and you will be blessed .

Easy? No. There are those who become chronically depressed and I do not believe that to be a choice but more of a condition (and thankfully, in most cases, a treatable one). But for the lucky ones who do not fall into that category, what choice do they have but to move on and find some reason to go on; finding some reason to be happy again? I'm sure it must seem impossible for a time but if you do not make that choice eventually, you are doomed to a miserable life ahead of you.

I know people who have lost children who adapted and seem to have bounced back. One lady I know has her profile picture on facebook set as her deceased daughter's picture. It tears at my heart to look at it because she was a friend of mine but it's how she copes. I think we all have to have coping mechanisms, even if a tragedy doesn't happen in our lives. There's just too much bad in the world around us. Pray about the bad and choose to be happy despite it all.

It's about dancing in the rain.

Why that's 'me'! You see,'i' got'a be happy with 'me' and whatever that takes it's up to 'me' so it's mind over matter.

Good post,

I think there is a lot in what you say,
and no matter how big a dent 'the rock' that hits us leaves,
as humans, most of us find a way to move on
and find happiness on some level..

Kind of like when someone really close dies,
life is never the same again, but we adapt,
and go on to find happiness again in
what becomes a different normality!

Good post,
Thank you.
It's just how I look at things. Both of my kids will tell you that the one thing I taught them while they were growing up is this ..
in general life sucks. have your pity party and move on. lol

We all have our pity parties. I've had my fair share.

Yeah, I know it's a very different story for a life altering tragedy. But the moving on part still applies.

I enjoyed your post, too.:o)
