No Archbiship. the forum here is "Offbeat," not "Beat Off."

By the way, that fashionable man in a housecoat swinging his gold purse back and forth should know it's apparently on fire, what with all the smoke coming out of it.

Sacrilegious and so disgusting. How can a man go into the priesthood and commit such atrocities on innocent children? Seems the priesthood is a ruse for these Pedophiles and all to easy for them to do their dirty deeds. These so called priests should be ousted and prohibited from ever being around children again. I feel sorry for all of the good and loyal priests whose heart and soul is totally committed to their church and their God. That is to say, not all priests are bad.

Actually, sexually sick, authoritarian, misogynistic institutions will tend to attract a dysfunctional subset more than would healthier institutions. This is why there's no comparable scandal and coverup and dissembling amongst, say, Quakers or Episcopalians.

So while it's mostly been the higher ups doing the coverup, the abuse of power and other maladies I listed are inherent to the RCC - "good" priest or nun or not.

The things I posted do not and cannot apply to model cars.

Point the person out to me who doesn't know that "RCC" in a thread about some archbishop's crocodile tears refers to the catholic church.

Hi Christsharian Law. Do you mean Religious Communicators Council? I agree with you about the Catholic Church as opposed to some other religions concerning cover-ups. I'm appalled that such a despicable atrocity would be covered up by the very people who are supposed to represent the highest authority - God. Over the years, the cover-ups hurt so many and ruined countless lives. Nothing can ever substantiate sweeping something so disdainful as the sexual molestation and rape of children. I believe this has happened in the communal religious sects like Baptist, where the accused and convicted leaders wed girls young enough to be their granddaughters, also providing other preteen girls to other high official members of the commune. All of those so called men of God got away with their crimes for years, but were eventually caught and are serving very long to life sentences. Makes me sick and angry that the mothers of those young girls sacrificed their own daughters to these terrible men. Hearing stories like this on the news makes me realize how fortunate I've been growing up, and I'm grateful for that every day of my life..

Everyone who can think or read knows what RCC stands for.

There is abuse of power in other religious traditions, because the authoritarianism, misogyny and homophobia - the contributing factors - exist everywhere, as with most of those Baptist things. But nothing like the centralized incidence of abuse of power and centralized coverup efforts for decades you find with the RCC.

Particularly in more progressive denominations and religions, as a general matter.

When will the Secretary of Education apologize or even acknowledge that teachers continue to molest their students?
