And it’s also untrue — as claimed in a graphic widely circulated by email and in social media postings — that the debt has increased more under Obama than under all previous 43 presidents combined. In fact, as of Jan. 31, 2012, the rise under Obama had yet to surpass the rise under his predecessor, George W. Bush.

The figures in that graphic are pure fabrications, as anyone can easily confirm by plugging Obama’s inauguration date — Jan. 20, 2009 — in the Treasury Department’s handy “debt to the penny” website. That shows the nation’s total debt stood at $10.6 trillion on the day Obama took office (not $6.3 trillion), and it had increased to nearly $15.4 trillion by the end of January 2012 — a rise of more than $4.7 trillion in just over three years (not $6.5 trillion).

Washington Post columnist Ezra Klein argues that the economic stimulus and other Obama policies account for just under $1 trillion of the debt added since he took office, while Bush added $5.1 trillion in his eight years — mostly due to tax cuts and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

When Bush took office, the national debt was $5.73 trillion. When he left, it was $10.7 trillion. That's a difference of $4.97 trillion, almost $1 trillion more than what Emanuel said. Bush spent 5.73 trillion and Obama spent over 7 trillion in only 6 years compared to Bush's 8 years

You should really be more careful. With the amount of sugar that is in all of that kool-aid you're drinking, you're at risk of becoming diabetic.

They did "achieve" to make it hard on the everyday citizen by shutting down the government. And by everyday citizen, I'm including citizens of the world. The GOP knew that we weren't going to default on our loans. What they know and the average American doesn't, is that the president has the power to make good on those loan payments. He even had the papers ready to sign when the shutdown occurred. Republicans know this and simply use a government shut down as a political tool. Americans, being completely ignorant of how government actually works, tend to blame the president for their hardships during a shutdown. I sat back and watched as the default neared in hopes that the republicans would force the president to use that power. He had already let it be known that he wouldn't let the country go into default, so the republicans drew out the shutdown for as long as they could. They merely accomplished to make life hard on average citizens and to lower the United States credit rating. However, since the memory of the American people is about as long as their nose and they don't know what was actually going on at the time, it probably hurt in the least.

If the Economy shrank 2.9% the first Quarter, because of cold weather, what is your excuse for the economy doing the same thing only worse the 2nd Quarter? The economy is in the shitter because of the Presidents policies, and they will be there until January 2017.

Why must you make this so easy? 48 straight months of economic growth is hardly "in the shitter". Could it be better? Absolutely. However, it will take time. A recession doesn't fix itself. It especially doesn't fix itself overnight.
