When I was young, it seemed that life was so wonderful,

Ya betcha it was... someone else worried about the bills!
Had little I suppose looking back on it, and only had three channels on the TV if I was lucky and the weather was right (NO cable back then), no computer, no cell phone,no game systems (none of any of the above), and had a few chores but also never sassed (or even dreamed of doing so) those that gave them to me. Heck, I even pushed around a mower with NO MOTOR for a while.

Kids today don't even realize how good they have it. Times have changed. But sometimes upon reflection of my own childhood... progression = three steps back, in certain aspects.

Just some private grumblings probably best kept to myself. But too late, I'm hitting "Enter".

I'll bet a box of Cracker Jacks with a real prize in it, that most of these kids nowdays with no chores and everything handed to them, will not have as happy an old age as we do.

When you can't find the light,
That guides you on the cloudy days,
When the stars ain't shinin' bright,
You feel like you've lost you're way,
When those candle lights of home,
Burn so very far away,
Well you got to let your soul shine,
Just like my daddy used to say.

He used to say soulshine,
It's better than sunshine,
It's better than moonshine,
Damn sure better than rain.
Hey now people don't mind,
We all get this way sometime,
Got to let your soul shine, shine till the break of day.

I grew up thinkin' that I had it made,
Gonna make it on my own.
Life can take the strongest man,
Make him feel so alone.
Now and then I feel a cold wind,
Blowin' through my achin' bones,
I think back to what my daddy said,
He said "Boy, in the darkness before the dawn:"

Let your soul shine,
It's better than sunshine,
It's better than moonshine,
Damn sure better than rain.
Yeah now people don't mind,
We all get this way sometimes,
Gotta let your soul shine, shine till the break of day.

Sometimes a man can feel this emptiness,
Like a woman has robbed him of his very soul.
A woman too, God knows, she can feel like this.
And when your world seems cold, you got to let your spirit take control.

Let your soul shine,
It's better than sunshine,
It's better than moonshine,
Damn sure better than rain.
Lord now people don't mind,
We all get this way sometimes,
Gotta let your soul shine, shine till the break of day.

Oh, it's better than sunshine,
It's better than moonshine,
Damn sure better than rain.
Yeah now people don't mind,
We all get this way sometimes,
Gotta let your soul shine, shine till the break of day.

It's not true.

Some of us have great stories, pretty stories that take place at lakes with boats and friends and noodle salad. Just no one in this car. But, a lot of people, that's their story. Good times, noodle salad. What makes it so hard is not that you had it bad, but that you're that pissed that so many others had it good.

Um, do you need me to clarify? I didn't stay on the streets forever. Here's a short synopsis...

My dad dumped me off on the streets with a garbage bag of clothes after I got into a fight with his girlfriend and said I wanted to move out. Eventually I ended up living in a motel with my mom & her boyfriend. BTW -The motel owners were the ones who got me socks for Christmas, my mom cleaned rooms there. Mom's boyfriend was the one who held a knife to my throat & a gun to my head...this was after my mom & him got into a fight & he knocked her unconscious. She chose to stay with him but I ended up living with my aunt for a while but she had 5 kids and I couldn't stay so eventually I ended up back at my dads.

In 11th grade I ended up living with a foster family (while there I went from 84 pounds to 114 pounds. They did't ration my food like my step mom did plus they had real cows milk which helped to fatten me up.)

The summer of that year, I went back to my dads & after I graduated highschool I got the hell outta dodge.

After I left, my little sister took my parents to court and "divorced" them/got emancipated at age 16 because I wasn't there to defend her anymore.

There ya go. Want to know any more? I'll be glad to share.

An if can have zero or one else's and it must come after any else if's.

An if can have zero to many else if's and they must come before the else.

Once an else if succeeds, none of he remaining else if's or else's will be tested.

I remember when, I remember
I remember when I lost my mind
There was something so pleasant about that place

And when you're out there without care

Yeah, I was out of touch

But it wasn't because I didn't know enough

I just knew too much

How many more times, treat me the way you wanna do
How many more times, treat me the way you wanna do
When I give you all my love, please, please be true

I'll give you all I've got to give, rings, pearls, and all
I'll give you all I've got to give, rings, pearls, and all
I got to get you together, baby
I'm sure, sure you're gonna call
Oh, wanna love some other man too

Ooh
I was a young man, I couldn't resist
Started thinkin' it over just what I had missed
Got me a girl and I kissed her, and then, and then
whoops, oh, no, yeah, well I did it again
Now I've got ten children of my own
I got another child on the way that makes eleven
But I'm in constant Heaven

I know it's all right in my mind
'cause I got a little schoolgirl and she's all mine
I can't get through to her 'cause it doesn't permit
but I'm gonna give her everything I've got to give

Oh, Rosie, oh, girl
Oh, Rosie, oh, girl
Steal away, now, steal away
Steal away, baby, steal away
Little Robert Anthony wants to come and play
A-why don'tcha come with me, baby, steal away
All right, all right

Well, they call me the Hunter, that's my name
Call me the Hunter, that's how I got my fame
Ain't no need to hide, Ain't no need to run
'cause I've got you in the sights of my gun

How many more times, barrellhouse all night long, alright
How many more times, barrellhouse all night long
Well, I've got to get to you, baby
So-whoa-whoa-whoa please come home
Why don't you listen to me, babe
Why don't you please come home
Why don't you please come home
Why don't you please come, oh

How do you do
Uh huh
I thought
By na Na-na
Just me and you
And then we can
Na-na Na-na
Just like before
And you will say
Na-na Na-na
Please give me more
And you will think
Na-na Na-na
Hey that's what I'm living for

On the horizontal plane of life we struggle with the perplexed endeavor of society.

We delve within ourselves to find true meaning of our existence.

We often except the unknown without hesitant realization of our own factual evidence.

And

Abolish the unconscious primitive instinct that will subdue the translucent effects of one's individual morality/reality.

As far as I know there's no gypsy in my blood
But damn me if it ain't in my soul
I guess that's why this ol' truckdrivin' life
Is the only kind of life I'll ever know

But those times that I'm gone
There's someone at home
A-wishin' I was there I can tell
She says that she loves me and heaven knows she does
But she hates that old truck sure as hell

She calls me her Diesel Gypsy
Her Cowboy Knight of the Road
It's hello and good-bye then off like the wind
And her ol' Diesel Gypsy's gone again

I'm a truck-drivin'-rambler - a highway-semi-gambler
A two-lane-hobo I guess
But she should know that just because
I love this truck so much
That doesn't mean I love her any less

But I'll bet at times she's wished another
Woman was the reason
She finds herself so often alone
For it's hard to compete
with a need that she can't see
Like a truck driver's need for the road

She keeps wishin' for a time
When I'll park this rig of mine
And take that regular job from eight to five
But a truck drivin' soul
With no place to go
Would soon be more dead than alive

And if she only knew
How I've had her on my mind
Those times I find me on the road all alone
She'd know she's better off to have me gone
A-wishin I was home
Than to have me home a-wishin' I was gone.

Go placidly amid the noise and waste,
And remember what comfort there may be in owning a piece thereof.
Avoid quiet and passive persons, unless you are in need of sleep.
Rotate your tires.
Speak glowingly of those greater than yourself,
And heed well their advice, even though they be turkeys.
Know what to kiss, and when.
Consider that two wrongs never make a right, but that three do.
Wherever possible, put people on hold.
Be comforted that in the face of all aridity and disillusionment,
and despite the changing fortunes of time,
There is always a big future in computer maintenance.
