I honestly did not realize Greenpeace was in the anti oil and gas business.
"A day earlier, two activists were arrested following an attempt to board an offshore drilling platform belonging to state natural gas company Gazprom."

Was this recent?
The EPA says it is okay to use, like I would believe them. If that mess says it's okay it will be used. The EPA is regarded as the be all and end all to many government officials and the environmentalists seems to like the too.

I have some serious issues with the environmental groups, they have ruined more things than they help IMO.

bottom line was NO contingency plan ... catastrophic at epic proportions ... they still don't have an answer ... this may ultimately affect the Texas coast and that makes me really angry ... Hurricane season starts next week ... El Nino has already been mad thus showing us a harsh winter ... Let's hope no more turbulence in the Gulf Coast ... I feel bad for the people literally "living" off the coast and their children, many of which, escaped and relocated to the affected states because of Katrina ... Very bad & sad situation! We can only hope for the best & that BP or someone get their heads out and figure out a solution ... and quick!
and who is still paying the price

So no one really knows how long it will really take.
Since we are on the subject and it's near to the anniversary of the Exon Valdez.
Can anyone tell me what the difference was between the two spills? Exon Valdez seems to have caused more damage and the area hasn't recovered much if at all (depends on who you read). While the gulf, at least to me, seems to be being far better. Are they better at clean ups now? Was it different types of crude? Is it unrefined VS refined, what is the difference?

many died that were involved in the clean up at both distastes

the problem in the gulf is corexit 9500,
the msds sheet for 9500 says ZERO allowable surface contact, no coincidence that it is one of Halliburtons highest profit items, intended to be used to clean out tankers and be re-refined.

letting it burn on the surface would have been the best alternative environmentally but the most damaging image for Halabruton

out of sight out of mind, 9500 sank the oil

and now BP and Halabruton have struck oil in the great lakes
