So this has been bothering me for quite sometime, and now no more nicey nicey! When walking down the sidewalk I always tend to yield when someone is running or walking down the sidewalk, regardless of who got there first!
I never ever get the same respect when walking down the sidewalk with my doggies! You would think that when someone see's that you have two doggies walking them and I'm there first, that they should go around me or move over!
I just came back from walking my two dogs and this dumb behind girl talking on her cellphone standing on the sidewalk with her dog......no regard for who's coming! So I stepped off the sidewalk into the grass and waited for her to get moving!
Finally, slow as molasses, she moved along! Then I got back on the sidewalk and two rather large women come walking towards me, but at a distance! Do you think either one of those blimps would have walked behind the other to give me room to walk on the sidewalk too????
Hell NO!
They both were walking side by side and I had to step into the grass again.....No more, I am done with being nice on the sidewalk and yielding out of COURTESY!!!!!!!
Next time, I'm going to keep on walking and do what everyone else does......I am sick of it!

Thank you!

No, their just sweet little dachshunds; and just plain common courtesy would do, but good grief people!

My sweet Lili Marlene makes folks cross the street, and use the other sidewalk.

She's such a happy camper when it comes to people, I think it gets her depressed to see so many folks afraid of her.

A 14lb-bunny walking a 135lb- American Bulldog, perhaps I can see the logic in that..

When you get about 20 feet from them start hawking lugies all over the side walk, coughing and sneezing, I'm sure they'll give you a wide berth. Works great when you want company gone too. Wanna get down that crowed aisle at the store, start coughing and sputtering while mumbling about bird flu as you slowly make your way down the ajsle.

It's a rotten shame how people act on the sidewalk when it's for everyone to walk on.......

Just squat and start urinating yourself.
Not only will they step aside, they will most likely turn around and walk away very fast.

You're welcome.

I get a chuckle when I'm walking on side walk and say
"Hello" to those walking pass the opposite direction.
Some will look at me as if I'm some crazy person.
How would I look to them if I just waved?

Sidewalk etiquette yes I know what you mean, sometimes I think it's true what they say that people are just getting ever less civil to one another. Whether walking and especially when driving, I always do my best to reverse that trend! It really doesn't cost anything to be nice to someone.

It's strange. When I walk down the street with my wolf, a path always seems to open.

"Excuse me Please" ,.. sometimes works. Wish they would be more considerate of others, but common sense is not as common as we would prefer.

Common courtesy goes a long way into improving encounters and relations of most every kind. Imagine it right off the sidewalk and I'm not talking about that cafe`.

Excuse me please is never good enough for a New Yorker. There is a list of things that don't work on New Yorkers that work elsewhere (btw by "New Yorkers", I mean people from the city).
1. Asking for directions. Don't ever ask for directions. You will just get a glare or ignored.
2. Saying "excuse me." New Yorkers just push their way through, and they never move if you ask them.
3. Being asked which train they can take to get to Brooklyn (or anywheres for that matter). "I don't know, that's your problem" or "Take the A train to 'I don't care', then a transfer onto the 6 line should work."
4. Don't ask them what local pizzeria is the best. An argument will start if another New Yorker happens to answer too.
