--God-- was a 72 year old, life-long gentle preacher. A teacher of God's word, without being preachy. Never used a bible. Didn't believe in it.
--God-- never had a bad word to say about anyone and always found something of beauty in everyplace he stood. He always had a smile for everyone he met. He was the strongest MAN I have ever known.
A few months back I showed this thread to my father. He chuckled at some of the rank humor, but surmised that there were a few people on here that were looking for real answers.
To this end, from his death bed, he posted a few ray's of light.
Some of you ridiculed him, but you got no insults back.
Some of you were frustrated because he would not be intimidated or fight with you.
The beauty of it all is that he maintained his grace and dignity throughout. He understood.
To those of you who received anything of value from his words, and especially to "Fun In The Sun", may I say on his behalf:

You will do him proud, though. Hell, I'm proud of ya. Lots of provocation here...

Take care, and best wishes for a joy-filled Thanksgiving.

Dear God,
Were we really with you, in spirit bodies in the first earth age?

Is once saved always saved true?

Is Hell literal?

Is it true that when we die, you either go to one side of paradise or the other, to await judgment?

The meek shall inherit the earth? Does this mean the earth will be here forever?

What really happend in the garden of eden?

Do you like rock n roll music?

Sorry, i asked moew than one question. I couldn't resist.

I know, me too. I have enjoyed this thread, he is thoughtful and not taken to flip responses, etc.

I am praying for him and hoping he returns, I think he will, his pops raised a good one, you know?

Wish I did live close enough to swing by, I suspect that we would be good friends. Hope you both have a great day!

We buried --God-- at sunrise this morning.

Tradition in our family and our small congregation.

My father, to me, was always known as "G.O.D." - Good Old Dad.

The name started out as a note on a Birthday package.

You see, my father had raised us to talk with God on a daily basis. As you would talk to a friend or relative.

"God," he would tell me, "loves you and wants you to be happy."

In my young age happiness came from toys. So my father overheard me "talking" to God about my birthday present.

When I received a package on the porch, there was a note on top signed by "G.O.D.". My dad just smiled at my excitement.

When I understood what it meant, I would leave him little notes with questions or just to say I love you...

...and he would leave me replies...signed by G.O.D.

In his last few months, my dad lost his voice completely.

G.O.D. would write me notes, just as he did in my childhood.

Each and every note he replied to began with, "My child..."

...just as he began his replies here.

Re-reading them reminds me so much of my childhood...looking back over 50 years.

I know that I am rambling. But the answers that he gave to the questions posted...to me...they were my fathers last sermon.

I appreciate your kind words.

I love my father deeply.

He loved all the world.

In his actions, I came to understand the nature of God...and truly understood that someone could love everyone...unconditionally.

I miss my father.
