We had a neighbor, who would give out full size bottles of pepsi...that was a favorite house...:)

Didn't have to worry too much then...it was back in the early 6os...our neighbors were GREAT!!!

I always loved getting Tootsie Pops! Everyone else loved the candy bars, but me, well, I'm just weird that way! LOL! Now I go for the Sweet tarts and/or Smarties.

I loved the tootsie pops too. My favorites were the cherry and grape flavors. They were larger then they are today, and without the hydrogenated oil and corn syrup. Another favorite was the mounds bars. Always loved dark chocolate but most of the treats handed out were in milk chocolate. Maryjanes were great back in the day. Lots of peanut butter inside a tough toffee outer side. Not good for the teeth, but we were kids and didn't always think about that. Anyway, the Maryjanes you can still buy are far from what they use to be. Reese's peanut butter cups were a favorite, too. I really didn't eat much candy in those days though. My dad was the one with the sweet tooth and he would raid my candy bag until there wasn't much left. I remember collecting quite a bit of pocket change too. People were very generous with their treats. We would sometimes go back to the same house 2 or 3 times and the homeowner would just chuckle and refill our bags, although there were 1 or 2 who were annoyed. Can't say that I blamed them. I miss those days. Innocent fun and our parents didn't worry about predators, although I suppose they should have been more cautious.

Kit Kat bars. Love 'em. When the kiddies are done for the night I go through their candy to make sure everything is kosher and I steal all the kit kats and about half the tootsie pops. The big guy likes all that chewey old fashioned candy like dots and bit o'honey...gross.

I remember getting full size "charms" pops, and even things like homemade popcorn balls-you wouldn't dare mess with those these days.
