All I'm tired of is an ad popping up in front of what I need to read.

Yes, but it's what supports the topix site.
Hint : If you have tabbed browsing, you can set your browser to open certain adds PI's in new tabs away from the page your trying to read. ;)

Just this week they seem to have doubled.
I don't know a lot about the computer. I turned my blocker up to medium high. I don't know if that will help or not.

This morning I found that Norton took it off. They said it wasn't safe. Now I'm smothered with ads again.
Got any other ideas?

You may have got a bug and it is faking out your Nortons , conflicting with or imitating it.
Go get malwarebytes.com for free , disconnect Nortons and adblock temporary and run the malwarebytes. Leave anything it finds in quarantine.(Iow don't delete anything yet.)
Go to Nortons web site and manually download then install any up grades.. virus definitions etc. While you are there look for any fixes to the adblock conflict. Nortons is usually pretty good at correcting glitches like that.
Search the adblock site also for conflict resolutions.
You are downloading the right versions of these programs to work with your ops and browser type, right?
Shut down and reboot. Run the Nortons full system scan. If it finds something, check to see if it is in the malware quarantine. If yes, get rid of it. Now turn off system restore. I know, it's a painful decision to make. Push off (not reboot) Wait 2 minutes. Turn your PC back on. Good luck.

Get a MAC. The extra money that you pay for one will be saved by not having to purchase the anti-virus crap every year. It's also a lot faster since it's not being bogged down by said software. I's just a much better OS than MicroSUCK/WinDOHS. I'll never own a PC again.
