I think sometimes people post things hoping not for sympathy but to connect with someone who has gone through something similar. We all express ourselves differently and if posting and sharing their pain helps someone feel a little better about themselves for the day then I'm all for it. I've had my share of crappy days and sometimes a kind comment, even from a stranger, makes me feel so much better.

GREAT post, LB..

you are so right in what you say..

I hadn't the personal experience of a child
who died and .. because I hadn't..

I understand I have no
idea of the intense emotion it would spark off..

I have been very close to a dear friend who had a daughter
with *severe* DOWNS SYNDROME..

she lived to 40 yrs of age -
[tho' she had the appearance of a 12 year old]

when she died ..
and was buried in a small white coffin.

The mother was ' a saint' NOTHING short of it....
stood by her 'alone' EVERY minute of her life;
had two hip replacements directly associated with
lifting her dear helpless daughter.. through the years until her death.

Her husband didn't want to know

[for some reason]!

Still, I'll not be his judge here,
as his WONDERFUL wife never judged him..
she just got on with it.

Those of you here 'know HOW complicated these things can be'..

and, in your case. Laura, I always admire YOUR handling of it.

Hey Reebs...
Just a question to someone who's been here just as long as I - when was the last time someone ever posted something like this that was true on Offbeat?

Imagine a tear drop not being your own but from that person who is all alone

Imagine everytime she cried you cried too

That teardrop shared

An open truth between two people connected

From a distance
but soon to be found

Imagine that teardrop falling to the ground but from that person who has fell down on her knees

Imagine everytime she tries to get back up you bleed

That moment of pain

Changes your life,
Changes hers

From a distance you have been kissed with realisation that you are not the only one

Imagine that teardrop

Imagine it there

but then it's gone

I grieve for you
You leave me
Let it out and move on
Missing what's gone
They say life carries on
They say life carries on and on and on

Life carries on
In the people I meet
In everyone that's out on the street
In all the dogs and cats
In the flies and rats
In the rot and the rust
In the ashes and the dust
Life carries…
