Did you know...

The Pan-American Highway is the longest road in the world. It runs from Fairbanks, Alaska to Buenos Aires, Argentina, stretching 29,800 miles (47,958 km). But it was never completed.

A portion called the Darien Gap, mostly jungle about 100 miles (160 km) long located in Panama and Colombia, remains uncompleted. Cars and passengers are transported around the gap by ship.

The Pan-American Highway is a network of roads, each with its twists and turns. Measuring the highway’s distance as the crow flies makes it about 16,000 miles (25,750 km) long.

Did you know...

Hurricanes, tornadoes and bigger bodies of water always go clockwise in the Southern Hemisphere and counterclockwise in the Northern Hemisphere. This directional spinning has to do with the rotation of the earth and is called the Coriolis force. Winds that blow toward the equator curve west?

May 21, 2008 - The longest confirmed sniper kill was by a Canadian soldier named Rob ... also had to take into account the curvature of the earth and Coriolis effects

Did you know that the word 'Love' has been so demoted by society, that it is often meaningless, to say. I almost want to use the word 'Beauty' instead!

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself,
you will succumb in every battle”

Did you know you can't use an umbrella while in uniform? Did you know it takes 1/10 second for something to regester in your mind after you see it. Your mind predicts where the fast ball will be when you hit it. That is also why my slight of hand works. You see what your mind predicts will happen :)

"Hillary tried to change the tradition where military aides wore their uniforms when accompanying the President with the nuclear football," said air force lieutenant colonel Robert "Buzz" Patterson, who served as President Clinton's senior military aide. "There were five military aides--from air force, army, navy, marines, and coast guard--and she wanted us to wear business suits when we were carrying the football.

"The directive came down from Hillary through the President's chief of staff, Leon Panetta," Patterson continued. "Secret Service agents opposed her plan, because they wanted us to be easily identifiable by our uniforms in the event that something critical went down. We military aides were not just responsible for the nuclear codes, but also for evacuating the President and accompanying him to safe houses."

"Eventually, Hillary relented. My opinion is she was trying to downplay the military in and around her husband. It's ridiculous for her to claim that the story was the result of some young staffer who, in a lapse of judgment, said something critical to someone in uniform. It was all Hillary's doing from beginning to end."

Did you know...?

On average, you speak almost 5,000 words a day – although almost 80% of speaking is self-talk (talking to yourself).

Talking to yourself? That's not true, is it? Oh crap! It is!

Talking about love

Did you know, or the art of:

Historically, sweat has been an active ingredient in perfume and love potions.

In Bali, men believed a woman would fall in love if her suitor fed her a certain kind of leaf incised with the image of a god who sported a very large penis.

The Mexican chief Montezuma considered chocolate a “love drug” and drank 50 cups of chocolate a day before visiting his harem of 600 women.

Engagement rings are often worn on the fourth finger of the left hand because the ancient Greeks maintained that that finger contains the vena amoris, or the “vein of love,” that runs straight to the heart. The first recorded wedding rings appear in ancient Egypt, with the circle representing eternity as well as powerful sun and moon dei

When a person falls in love, the ventral tegmental area in the brain floods the caudate nucleus with dopamine. The caudate then signals for more dopamine; the more dopamine, the higher a person feels. The same system becomes activated when someone takes cocaine.

I didn't know that! George (Eric Arthur Blair), you should know, wrote "1984", with Big Brother ever-present through surveillance. So he might consider the surveillance cameras at his own residence to be ironic, at best, prescient at worst!
