I have a gay brother and if he wants to get married to some young fella, then who am I to stand in his way.

I guess I don't care either way. I don't lose sleep over it. If gay marriage is allowed I don't think it's going to corrupt my kids or society or anything like I hear some people say. Society has enough problems not to be worrying about rather than two people in love.

I believe it was Kinky Friedman who said, of gay marriage, "gay people should have the right to be as miserable as the rest of us"

I believe we should be able to marry men if we're men, women if we're women, or a boy can marry a girl if that's what you're into.

Well, I'll go out on a limb and (cringe) open myself up to attack.

No, I don't think there should be gay "marriage." Gay civil unions are fine. I have several gay friends who are amazing people, and I want them to be happy, even if I don't like their lifestyle. I also want them to have the benefits of being in a committed relationship, even though I disagree with their lifestyle.

But marriage is one man, one woman, period. Here I go, ducking for cover....

Hmmm...Leslie, a piece of "foxhole" advise dear.

If you love someone... are in a committed relationship...share your life together...buy a home together... yes, all the legal protection of the contract of marriage should be available to you. Call it whatever you like, marriage is a two party contract...

Do you really want to know what I think? Clearly my POV is not welcomed around here. I could share, I guess, but then I would be attacked, and I would have to do what our Topix trolls did with the hundreds of filthy polls and threads. So, in order to keep the peace, I will refrain from giving an answer.

I've never attacked you, purple gurl. Direct your anger where it belongs. Or just say what you think.

That was not aimed at you, but for others who might join your thread. I have always counted you in as one of my friends around here. I have always loved your posts, and I was one of the ones reporting posts and threads which were aimed at you.

It is still not safe for me to tell what I feel. You won't judge me, but that doesn't mean a half-dozen I've had problems with in the past won't. So I will not risk that. Besides, due to one of those, I have my own thread for discussing the topic. They were "kind" enough to start it for me. I don't know where it is, but someone will probably push it back to the top.

Thanks, purple gurl. I know what you mean about feeling bombarded. Unfortunately, sometimes people seem to think that having the last word is the same as having the most recent word. In this type of forum, normal logic and civilised argument is really difficult unless all parties are mature enough.

Why only one man, one woman? Please elaborate.

Oh, she was refering to me most likely. She's correct too, I'll "judge" the hell out of her. That is how things work around here. Like the time that I made a mean joke about god. My ass was fair game for "judging". I got my ass "judged" until I didn't have any ass left. So, if she posts her anti gay, oops, anti homosexual views, then I reserve the right to pounce. I have to be creative about how I do it though. She has accused me of stalking her, and sending her harrassing e-mails so I refuse to speak directly to her. I'll figure something out if neccessary. Gays are people too and they don't deserve the crap that they get. I'll defend them and their rights because it is the right thing to do.
