The most I did to my sister was take the heads off her barbie dolls, sheesh! It is crazy that the family approved. India is rated pretty low on the list for how they treat women. Now, this is sad crap, so I am going to pick on the writer's sentence here for levity: "Nilofar, who had been married for eight years, had run away from her in-laws and was reportedly relishing a spicy relationship with a former lover."
So, that was some spicy relish? sweet or dill? dang "journalists"

Done by Christians? I think not. hee hee hee The point being libtard, that if it was an American Christian honor killing, the media would be having a field day and idiots like you and ferrerman and other morons would be bringin it up as indicative of Christian madness, etc. I don't see you bringing up muslim or hindu honor killings in the same vein.

You know I'm right. So shut up and siddown before you make yourself look even more stupid than you already do!

A 'lot'of what you say is true DILF,
but not all..
Firstly, in total agreement with what you
said about this kind of act .. a result of
brain washing of the worst kind..and .. in my opinion..
about as removed from RELIGION as Earth is from Mars.
As for AMERICANS being attuned to EVERYTHING
in the world - not so..
no more than my or any country is.
I recently watched in amazement an AMERICAN TV programme
> "TODDLERS & TIARAS"
where very young children are seriously exploited,
paraded as sex objects and miniature beauty queens,
little children frustrated and crying and parents
seeking reflected glory through these children..
pushing them on..
I witnessed one small child who could not keep her eyes
open for want of the sleep requirment natural
to 'her' age; the 'proud'(?) Dad feeding
her something they call BB Juice to keep her alert
until her name was called.
The whole thing was disturbing, to say the least,
and I seriously doubt if suchlike would be tolerated here...
where I live.

I see little difference between the toddlers and tiaras and the traveler girls that wear dresses so heavy they end up with cuts that scar. I'm certain you have stage moms just as bad as the ones here. No country has a monopoly on good behavior or bad.

But NONE of it as disturbing as cutting a family member's head off because they "shamed" the family.

You flip-flop more than a #5 Denny's pancake breakfast.

"If this would have happened in America it'd be world wide explosive news and the idiot in the white house would be contemplating a dictatorial order..I mean, an executive order to outlaw knives."

Where did you mention Christians?

Nice deflection - and as always, everyone knows you're wrong.

India has taken a Media Wide Front Row Seat - much of it, Gruesome.

Are the kids in the call centers (the ones who scripedly address our customer service issues/requests) leading the spirited protests against/or shining the lens of the captivated media to the inherent, grossly negligent ...... nothing meeting to say other than this: forget where have all the flowers gone, funny - the "groovey" people of yesteryear who rode to fame and fortune the "coolness" of India..... some are quite comfortablely alive and as the old song says "the rest is silence" -

Reincarnation is a belief held in India.. I hope that when this man dies he will come back as a goat and immediatly slaughtered by having his head cut off, only to return as a snake which is killed on sight, only to return as a toad which is eaten alive by a snake, only to return as a dung bettle, only to be stepped on instantly, only to return as a spider that is eaten by a lizard, only to return as a fly which is eaten by a spider, only to return as a gnat which is eaten by a bat, only to return as a mite which is eaten by an aphid... You get the picture...

As I said at the beginning NO country is perfect ..
there are faults in different ways granted,
it was just that this programme really shocked,
I saw one little girl sobbing because something
she wore was too tight, it showed the Mom
chastising her and ordering her to stop crying
as she didn't want runny mascara coming against her
in her competition, it was actually cruel to observe
and that being only one example

Yes, I'm sure there are doubtful parents everywhere..
many [as we know] hidden behind the scenes,
all I know is we have no such competitions here
involving small children..

The nearest would be IRISH DANCE, which is highly
competitive but in a good way..
the standard is very high and children enjoy it.

and bonny baby competitions in summer,
which are always fun and happy.

AND
OF COURSE< it goes without saying none of this compares to
the thread head here,
my fault there from straying off topic somewhat.
it was just that Dilf was painting a blemish free picture...
of the American way.

Apart from it all..

I simply don't know HOW they physically carry out
such an act, then go back to work,
eat and sleep as normal ???!!! and how does a learned custom
come to rule over a person's natural gut
feeling and intelligence, that it is EVERYTHING
that's wrong .. gruesome..
barbaric etc.. to carry out such acts.. and yet they do.

Umm! One often hears of 'aliens' beings from other planets, folks laugh and say 'no such thing'
but to me
these people are 'alien' and to most of
us humans.

I cant speak for Dilf, but what I saw in his comment was shock and disbelief at a horrific killing. and it brought out a consuming love for his civilized nation...A softer side to his usual comedic twist... Any horrific murders in America, comparing to the beheading,( we just had one) probably made him want to go right home and hug his children as well.. all fairness, you really cant compare a foolish reality show to horrific killings.

Sorry Grace, I think my attempt at brevity came across as angry.

I don't think he was saying blemish free. I think he was saying they we are lucky, like many European countries, that we have choices. Our daughters would not be forced to endure that type of fear or control.

I do get that you are saying those toddler moms are exhibiting a type of control, forcing the kids to do what do not want to do. Yet after the nightmare of their childhoods they would not have to continue to obey their parents. I'm certain there are Irish dance moms just as bad. Both groups pay exorbitant amounts for clothes, hair pieces, accessories and lessons. Whether they all live vicariously through their kids or not seems to on an individual basis. I did see this show.

Thanks AW,

As you say, it is often down to parents themselves,
irrespective of country, to push their children
forward in whatever field that is competitive.

I often think it is something the parent
wanted to be involved in.. when young themselves,
but for lack of money or whatever, they didn't
succeed and so they relive the dream,
as you say..

It is interesting how IRISH DANCING became
so popular in so many other countries.

Yeah.lol

S
miling at the last line too..
Thanks for the link.

Reebie and Wary have put it quite eloquently....and I agree with what they said.
The point I was trying to get across is that we (collectively Americans and other "civilized" countries) are very fortunate to have been born where we were born. I cannot imagine being born a woman in a houshold such as the one in this article. No country is perfect, and none will ever be..... I pray that atrocities such as this decrease as people become more humane.
