I know about the "one drop rule," and I don't support it. I am a BW and my fiance is a WM. We think the one drop rule is ignorant and very old fashioned. So we are raising our kids as biracial...not black..not white. I don't care what society says, I want my kids to be proud of both sides. They should not have to choose a race and deny one parent just to please society.
Anyway, the point I'm trying to make is that we want to have biracial on the birth certificates of our children. We have never had kids and don't know how that works, but we plan on having them in 2 years or so...maybe sooner if God makes it happen. Do the parents tell the hospital what they want the kids to be listed as, or will they just put black and white down...or will they try the one drop rule and just say the kids are black??? Last time I checked it takes two people to make a baby, and I am not going to just say my kids are black because that would not be true. Anyway, please fill me in on how this works. If you only want to respond with negative comments, please don't waste your time. I just want serious replies only from people who are not here to say rude or racist comments. Be respectful! THX!
well the color black dominates white... Mix black paint with white paint.... You'll have black paint. That's how the birth certificate goes. They choose the dominate race and that's black.

Hello people, we're talking about innocent babies here...this is not something to joke about because the child will grow and have to go out of the house and into society. Hopefully they are prepared by loving parents to love themselves as children of God. This race stuff is just a way to keep us separate from one another. We are human and that's all that matter or all that should really matter. Race doesn't have anything to do with anything for real. It's a barrier for all humans. Take it off the birth certificate period. Just stop with the un-necessary hurtful comments please. God loves us all. Peace

I completely agree. Whenever people ask me my race I say im a child of god. lol but if it gets technical i say mixed (since I am but my certificate says black). Aside from my racial problems, I tell people in real life what I am instead of what a paper says.

hi I have 6 beautiful biracial babies. I am a beautiful black woman and my husband is a white man. On our kids birth certificate it was left blank. Yes they do not have a race on their birth certificates. I think it's a shame and I agree with you we were raising our kids the same as you mentioned and I think is just ashame society needs to wake up.

It's weird, I looked at my grandsons birth certificate. My daughter is white ... Like white Irish white, and the father is dark black and present at the birth. So the hospital knew he was biracial, mixed race... Whichever term. The put him down as Caucasian. Granted, he looked like a white baby. But they KNEW the father is black. How did they come to the Caucasian conclusion??
