I'm pretty convinced that higher marijuana consumption will lead to more mental illness. What are your thoughts on this?

I mean, everyone's a crack addict so it might not make any difference. The entire drug-taking populace of U.S.A is mentally ill anyway.

It's easy to forget that when so many go over to Amsterdam and openly partake. I don't know why they just don't have done with it there and make it legal.

<quoted text>The War on drugs has never been about harm reduction. As a matter of fact, the lack of actual regulation from it only causes harm exponentiation. Drug laws only multiply the dangers and harm that they do to society. Be it from criminal records or from tainted product.
That's true. Whatever the drug, lack of regulation allows all sorts of harmful carp to be passed off as something else. Not to mention encouraging organised crime. It's all a sacrifical goat anyway.

People posting here and there abouts say they worry now about RTAs. Simple, apply the same laws as alcohol.
And as for blackmarkets, there are always those, for just about anything legal, decrimed or illegal

Actually the "M-word" was popularized by John Anslinger/Hearst to further prohibit a harmless plant, and lable it a "Mexican-y"- sounding name.

Pretty easy, eh?.....I mean, I don't go into a bar and ask for a "cerveza" now, do I?

In the world's first accounting of a recreational pot industry, Colorado officials say the state has made roughly $2 million in marijuana taxes in January, the first month of sales. The tax total reported Monday by the state Department of Revenue indicates $14.02 million worth of recreational pot was sold. The state collected roughly $2.01 million in taxes. The state legalized pot in 2012, but the commercial sale of marijuana didn't begin until January. Washington state sales begin in the coming months. The taxes come from 12.9 percent sales taxes and 15 percent excise taxes. Voters approved the pot taxes last year. The first $40 million of the excise tax must go to school construction. Colorado has about 160 state-licensed recreational marijuana stores, though not all were open in January.

Good news is (for marijuana users) that people can now legally smoke whacky weed in these states. Bad news is (also for some marijuana users) is that many users will no longer be able to afford it.

Can't afford pot? NY tobacco price and smokers prove that point wrong.

I am more comfortable with people smoking pot then anything else they could put in their body.
The reality is that employers drug test and pot stays in your system for quite a while. Legalized or not, if you are tested, you fail.
