Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgement that something else is more important than fear.~Ambrose Redmoon
ď if you get up in the morning, and all you do is go to play tennis, report on ESPN or do your jo, then you arenít fulfilling your life purpose.ĒĖ Arthur Ashe
His body wracked with pain, with illness, Arthur Ashe committed himself to working against the disease that was literally destroying his life. In his interview with Robin Roberts, then of ESPN, he talked of his courage during his battle . This year, Robin will receive the Arthur Ashe Award of courage, for her courage during her own battles of life. Most often, we think, yes, but these are famous people, this is what each one needs to do. We donít realize ourselves just who may be watching us. My 12 year old grandson is with me for the month of July. This is meant to be the time where Grammee and grandson spend having time. Yet as a grandmother, I have to realize how much kids see, how people learn by example as well as telling what to do. So everyday I work some hours, to teach good work ethics, to pay my bills. Then comes another choice. Although I had work appointments, although I have some goals to achieve to be able to bring my mother out of the nursing home, my dad called, strained, just a little panicked. His 97 year old sister , she has no children, had fallen in the floor. She hit her head. This was the fourth time this week she had fallen, called the life alert, had the police come to break into her house. I have no power of attorney, yet there is the choice, the courage to trust the Most High for my finances, to teach my grandson balance. We all know that I am a workaholic. Yet , although the battle of will was there, I could easily say,she isnít my problem, yet I canít stand the thought of being alone, of being old, of being ill by herself. So we went as I hope that my grandon learned the lesson of courage to do whatís right. I talked her into going into the hospital, back into the assisted living facility as she canít be by herself anymore. There is still fear, am I hurting my business, am I going to pay my bills, but the judgement , the balance is far more important of what we all, including me, learn about resting on the trust that Spirit will take care of us . In living our lives, each of us can be Arthur Ashe, Robin Roberts, because we never know who is watching our liveís purpose.Animal totems: ox: I was thinking of ox totem today. Bro Ox is strong, quiet, patient. He is never overly aggressive, but can carry great weights on his broad back. His medicine is he doesnít have to have too much courage as he is so big, nothing truly bothers him much. He lets the rain, the storms roll off his back. The ox medicine is courage though. Being big in spirit rather than just body, he toils without complaint. What a great totem to think of today. Help me spirit to remember not to complain.Herbal medicine: Cayene Pepper: Pepper is good for lifting spirits, helping energize. It helps to lose weight as it speeds the heart rate up a bit. Many herbalists recommend a capsule of it in the morning to just get going. Cayene pepper in magick will stir up romantic passion, hot , strong physical love.
Tarot card: The World: The seeker is walking their path, their journey. When first leaving the nest, leaving childhood behind, the World looms up, large, strong, able to overwhelm if the seeker is not careful as he/she sees how much is out there, not only filled with so much treasure but also large dark problems, issues, tempatations. The world teaches us to meet life head on with ourage.I am going to be here this morning my usual hours today. I . May the fairies dance around each of us today. Love ya, Me, Cherokee, Cidro, Frankiecapone, Sugar Fortune Cookie, T and the sweet spirit of Bob and Bets, my spirit pups.
