I think their wages are comparable to any other retail. Or fastfood for that matter.. McDonalds is another major chain.. The difference is, Mcdonalds, gives better opportunity for growth within the co.. offers employees shares...etc, and does more humanitarian,,etc,, most retail and ff,, are all notorious for working employees 30-32 hours per week,,to keep them from fulltime benefits.. but still provide benefits paid vacations and holiday pay etc..in that aspect, Walmart is no different than its competitors..
wassup Tally :)
hey , nothing much , well aware of the short week tactic , but then again , that fifth day is an employment day for another .... in a sense

They're already saying: "WE (they) can't compete with the Chinese wages and so many people are stupidly anti-Union (because THEY aren't represented so they don't care if anyone is...) and they've got a lot of people thinking wages SHOULD go down because- well, ya know- it's a 'conservative' thing to do...ever so 'practical'...
So, how does the American worker compete with .99 to $1.37 and hour 16 hour day, wages? Take less...
We dodged a bullet by not electing Rmoney. But, it was only temporary.
Explain to me why American workers are in such a hurry to earn $7.50 an hour...instead of $22.00 an hour that a similuar union job would offer?

Is it more patriotic to get paid less...for doing the same work?

don't exactly call stocking selves/cleaning/restrooms/ rooms as skilled labor positions ... I bet the pharmacist /optometrist make a fair market wage ... a skilled position
There was a time in this country when employers took
pride in their company And their workers.

You can run a company, make a big profit, and still
take care of your workers.

There is no excuse for theses multi billion dollar companies
not paying and take care of their workers.
Billy R was talking about this recently and he takes
care of the ppl he employes. It's only right.

Don't you get it???

If they paid their workers like that they wouldn't
have the money to give their CEO's million dollar
bonuses.

Most Americans base their whole existance on what I can afford,,meaning week to week paycheck... 600 car payment? Ok, My paycheck covers that, they dont see the big picture... I am 100 percent for union. I grew up in and live in a predominately automotive industry driven community. Walmart is the original, modern figurehead of corporate greed, followed by so many these days. When a good and fair profit, just isn't enough, there are corporations like Walmart and so, so many others...it is everywhere...in retail, media, pro sports, politics...Greed is a disease that has spread far and wide...What died with Sam Walton and his fellow greatest generation, was the humility to stop at a fair profit margin....and the humanity to want to treat their employee's well.....

Thank you.....for saying what I was trying to say
better than I could say it. lol

It's about Corporate Greed, a good and fair profit
not being enough, and being humane to their employees.

I hate WalMart.
I know Sam Walton was a good man with
a good idea but since his death I think
that "idea" has been thoroughly corrupted.
It's not only that the merchandise is
made in sweat shops in countries with no
human rights. It is also the way the co.
treats it's own workers.
Most ppl working at a WalMart store get
food stamps, Medicaid and WIC. The stores
encourage it.(and how many tax dollars is it
costing to pay what that company should
be paying?) The majority of the employees
are listed as "part time" workers to keep
them from benefits.
Women are discriminated against in many of
the stores which led to the nation wide
civil suit (which the women lost).
This is THE BEST statement made yet!! 100% true.
Walton was a good man! With a great vision. Which died with him. He must be rolling in his grave. And his name is forever bound to that horrid place!!

I live (and grew up) in the southern Appalachian coal
fields. Coal mining was a way of life for generations
of men in this valley. The union was a very important
part of life when I was growing up.

When the UMWA started to fail we started seeing the
same disasters that the union had saved men from.
The Aracoma Alma #1, Sego, Upper Big Branch...all of
these mines took the lives of many men over something
as simple (and cheap) as a $12 sensor for the mining
belt.
