It's better to believe there ISN'T a god than such a one that would allow such.
I'm sad you feel that way... My life is far from perfect, but God is the light that keeps me going and shines through all of life's troubles...

I won't debate about God if you have your mind set, but I can pray, I believe in that too...

Just know... God fearing or not, I really do care, it's how God made me...:)

I'm off to buy a Christmas ornament for my 'Prayer Warriors' Christmas gathering tonight... I'll be back later, if you would like to talk...SL Pm's are welcome...

My grandmother, gave God her life. She switched to Catholic for my grandfather and raised her children to be good god-fearing people. She went to church and after she could no longer go had communion delivered to her home. She lived her life by the 10 commandments and I know that she was a true believer. Yet, there she lies in a nursing home. This week she is in so much pain that I can't even hold her hand. Where is her God??? I spend no time with God. I have no time for anybody who would allow a precious sweet old woman to suffer so terribly. Supposedly God has the power to end her suffering, yet, he does not. So, no I do not believe in him. Much less do I have time to waste begging for compassion for her. She is a much better person than I ever dreamed of being. If God has no mercy for a person who believed her whole life, then I have no time for him.

I have to agree that there is no God. You want proof? Go to any nursing home and look around....hard working, God fearing people who believed all their lives, went to church on Sundays and raised their children to believe. Sitting their in pain, incontinent forgotten by their families. Forgotten or forsaken by their God. Why does he leave them here suffering and parents from young children take children from loving families?
As for me, I can't help feeling those
thoughts too, as you so rightly mentioned
above 'look around etc'
also isn't it quoted somewhere that
God said something like I
wouldn't harm a single hair in you head,
I have them all counted'

How can that be true with the immense suffering out there,
and oddly, if you ever present this question to a Priest or Vicar,
or suchlike
they never give a straight reply,
they say 'It's a mystery'
but why say something like 'the hairs in your head'
quote and then not stand by it..

it's either true or not...

unless there's another dimension we know nothing
about and perhaps the whole jigsaw comes
together when we die..

or else oblivion..

who knows... who indeed!

I do not doubt that you care but that's probably the only thing we might agree on. I am sad, in turn, that people insist on propping up religion but I'm glad, I suppose, that it's there for folks who seem to need that crutch to get through life.

No one knows. That much is a certainty. It's just that some feel the need to fill that gap in knowledge with farcical deities while others are content and can live without such.

I often think the ones who believe in a deity and can call on that power
In daily life
when anything goes wrong, are lucky, what a comfort that can be,
A freedom of handing problems over to another power-
And ... when eventually they pass on

IF there is a continuation of life
In another sphere better still for them-
If not, they just drift unknowingly into oblivion..

Breaks even in the end.
