You need a passport to go elsewhere who is not USA related...yes...You are English...you need one to came in the US...
My comment is directed to the comments about France and the 8% prove than not too many people leave their country besides the comfortable surrounds..I am not saying nobody goes nowhere...
In a Rmoney administration we would need passports to go down the street or state to state. Reichtards on Offbeat would support this. They'd say: "You have to have an ID to buy beer so, why not an ID to go to town?"

Hi Brigitte...Since 2007, when the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative came into effect requiring passports for travel to Canada, Mexico and island nations of the Caribbean, the number of Americans holding passports has risen dramatically. As of January of this year, according to the U.S. State Department, there are now 109,780,364 Americans who hold current passports. That is about 35% of the population. However, your point is well taken. What percentage of passport holders who actually use them is another question. This is a recent article supporting your points.

Have a great day...
well...I was using what I learn in school 4 months ago...and on those 35% there are all the foreign, like me, who travel oversea to visit their family...but I doubt those numbers apply to Americans who uses a passport to go out of the States(meaning requirement of a passport) to explore a new country...I mean...even my husband only wants to go in places where they speak English! Me...I am more adventurous and non knowing a language do not bother me...You cannot not be afraid of what you don't know...otherwise you never progress mentally...
My point is...how can they say anything, as knowing about my Country or any other, if they never been there?? cause we are talking before 2007...
I was just trying to prove that if in 2011 only 15% own a passport...imagine 10 or 15 years ago...so...how can they run their mouth when they never left??? I could take a comment coming from an informed source...I will, at least, respect their opinion cause it will be based on real "knowledge"...which is why I do not let it go....
thanks...

Well, I'm using the stats from the U.S. State Department for 2012. I would also point out that the stats are for passports issued to AMERICANS...not foreigners. The percentage of Americans that had passports in the 80's was about 2.8. By the 90's it was 5.7%. Other than Canada and Mexico, to use an American passport you'd have to take a trip across an ocean. That is cost prohibitive for most. American is a vast country and there are many things to see right here. While it's always best to go a place, certainly you can read and inform yourself about it. I don't know who "They" are but this is only Topix...Don't take things too seriously. ;-)

Why? I am entitled to my own opinion...I don't see you saying that to the ones disagreeing about the US politics..

I didn't say your opinion, now did I? I said:

Don't get all paranoid about why, or should or how you're not an American citizen, ok? One reason and only one reason is good enough for us.

for us??? LOL! coming for the guy who has a German background...
I am just proving that one negative opinion or words or sentence and I get that kind of remarks when you don't have a problem to run your mouth about others countries...so..I guess it applies to you too...stay here, don't travel cause, based on your words, then you deserve to vacation elsewhere.

Yes, us - as in all of us on the inside looking at you on the outside - need I explan it further? I'm seriously trying to avoid the phrase, "dumbing it down for you."

As for my heritage, you are no closer to nailing down my nationality than Mittens is to winning this election. I've seen more foriegn countries in 8 years than you will ever read about in a geography book in a lifetime.

Where and why I take vacation isn't the issue here either - it's why you feel the need to "try" to insult Americans with your blather - as usual, you failed - miserably I might add.

I don't need an reason or excuse to be an American - nope, unlike you I will never know what it's like to turn my back on my country.
