Well said. And while we're at it, why don't we also stop obvious racists such as Spike Lee from attending games...
Not just attending games, but he's prominently shown at games. The camera's on him all the time. These same players who are outraged probably party with him after the game.

When the NBA bans Spike Lee from attending games, then they should do something to Sterling. Without that, they are just hypocrites.

I want lots of lust and sex, but the many different people part is really over-rated.

<quoted text>Wait- who was getting the Lifetime Achievement award- Spike Lee or Sterling?????
Sterling has no business owning a team in a predominantly black league. I hope the NBA judges him harshly. The leagues are supposed to vet these owners. The NFL kept Limbaugh from buying in because of his obvious racism.
Sterling was about to get his second lifetime achievement award from the LA branch of the NAACP.

Back on topic.........."True love---what every gal wants..."

I think the biggest part of love is trust!

In the absence of this, I think I need to find one person who I trust very much......I feel the need to tie one on and let go..........but require a babysitter to make sure I behave!

<quoted text>I saw that on Stewart last night! Well, evidently he donated a lot of cash and was rewarded with the prize. Wow. I'm guessing that was to make up for his past racial incidents. That's as hypocritical as people who claim Spike Lee is racist because yuppies coming into Harlem and buying property cheap just further displaces poor people from their homes. What idiot couldn't be in favor of further disenfranchising the poor?
Who is being hypocritical, Sterling for trying to buy his way out of his bigotry or the NAACP for turning a blind eye for money? Seems to me they both have a lot of explaining to do. As for NY, isn't it always changing? Harlem isn't the only place in the country that has or will price out the poorer denizens, most people call it progress. When has life ever been fair?

Not only that ... the people who sell are probably happy to sell. If I'm a poor person and I bought a house for peanuts and some wealthy yuppie offers me an arm and a leg for it, I'm happy to take it. They aren't forcing me off my land. Spike Lee is just a racist who doesn't like white people moving into a black neighborhood.

I did read what he said but it seems more that he didn't like the changes that were going on in the neighborhood. What he does or doesn't like isn't going to stop it from changing.

Kind of like how a lot of white people didn't like the changes that took place when black folks moved into white neighborhoods in the 60s and 70s? Ask Spike how he feels about that.

I know he is not going to stop it from happening. My point is that he's still celebrated when he is just as racist as Sterling. Sterling didn't want his floozy girlfriend making it known that she was hanging out with black people and Spike doesn't want white people moving into the neighborhood he grew up in. I don't see much of a difference in their views.

I'd say armed militia but that's generally used to support the right of rich people to not pay taxes.
A better solution might be provide rent breaks and relocation expenses to displaced persons. Rents are at an all-time high. It's very hard to find affordable housing for low income families. And with Topix posters wanting to eliminate the minimum wage, it's getting harder. Now, yuppies are moving into poor neighborhoods....
And so it goes....
I know taxes and laws vary by state so this was a California thing. In the 80s (maybe 70s I was a bit to young to really pay attention then) the citizens voted in a law that severely limited all property tax increases for property purchases before a specified date, no matter how much the value of the property increased. It was supposed to help senior citizens and the less affluent families remain in their homes while property values soared in the area.
Oh it was 1978.

I think it worked, others think it directly contributed to a failing school system in the state.
