A tribute to the Wonderful Month of June,
as to-morrow is the last day of this month.

the most magical of summer months.
and ..(I think)

()dedicated to my friend,'El'..
as JUNE is her name..)

Referring .. to JUNE as 'SHE'

'In Praise of June'

*****

SHE came to me in shimmering red
to tell me ..her friend May had fled..
...

JUNE, as month .. was very proud
Would sing her OWN praises out loud

SHE did this without a blush.
But NO ONE dared to tell her 'HUSH'

For.. of all the months..

It would seem
June lavished more beauty on every scene.

And, so I walked the summer land
to view the wonders of her hand.

Down the road, around each bend
Borders of tiny flowers without end

Most vibrant colours I'd ever seen
softer pale shades in between.

As I stood on a Hill-top high
There .. I saw the reason why
JUNE was the month that reigned supreme ..
and held the key to NATURE'S dream.

Through the valley and way beyond
I saw how she waved her magic wand..

and
touched each tree ..
each woodland glade

With a perfect blend of light and shade!

Leaving a trail of heavenly scent.
Transforming everything as SHE went..

Hanging baskets overhead..
Profusion of blooms from white to red
and many another awesome hue
From 'burgandy'.. to 'royal blue'

Along came the singing honey-bees
Circling in a tepid breeze
Spending dreamy daytime hours
kissing all the coloured flowers.

At night JUNE crossed the FIELDS unseen
Bringing EACH .. a different green

From 'Emerald''Olive''Lime' and ..'Jade'

and after that

on top she laid

A carpet of wild flowers - for loveliness sake-

Like icing on a birthday cake.

Shining buttercups.. daisies in white.
closed their petals .. in evening light..

AND .. neatly around each green field's edge
SHE formed a bronze or russet hedge.

There.. I saw

the great JUNE ROSE

Standing there .. in a singular pose.
Celebrated in song ..
and rhyme

Linked with LOVE..
all through time.

Curling petals - scarlet red-
elegantly bowing her velvet head.

The YELLOW -

WHITE -

and RAMBLING ROSE-

On and on, the miracle goes.

JUNE brought sunshine
EVERYWHERE ..

Azure skies -

the longest day-

Perfumed winds
that blow at night-
June lit Stars
shine twice as bright.

But, alas,
SHE's passing by-

to make way for her friend .. JULY.

Now JUNE will sleep in a shady glade

on a bed which SHE herself ..
has made.

Leaving behind -

a MASTERPIECE grand.

From her GREAT artistic hand..

GRACE.

To say I love this poem, and the fact it is dedicated to myself,
is an understatement. Aided by the severe Winter months, JUNE
this year has been all the more splendid, and you have 'captured'
the beauty which surrounds this month just leaving us, beautifully.

Thank you my dear friend, I will treasure this forever.

To add to the theme of roses and the changes of the month.. as well as to say Hello to Lady Grace and Lady Eleanor...
Your Poem was really moving Grace thanks for sharing it... So I in turn would like to share this Poem By Thomas Hood...
I hope that you all will enjoy it and I hope that your world is filled with laughter and love...

Time of Roses

It was not in the Winter
Our loving lot was cast;
It was the time of roses—
We pluck'd them as we pass'd!

That churlish season never frown'd
On early lovers yet:
O no—the world was newly crown'd
With flowers when first we met!

'Twas twilight, and I bade you go,
But still you held me fast;
It was the time of roses—
We pluck'd them as we pass'd!

You are VERY welcome, El..
glad you liked it..

Thanks also, Loved Blair
and WBR, for your comments..

I enjoyed thinking out the scenes
and setting them to rhyme.

WBR,

That gentle poem you included was worth reading,
thanks.
