I see the Warmonger In Chief is making the rounds, hitting the weekend news shows in hopes he can sway votes towards Congressional blessing for attacking Syria. What was that Nobel Prize for, again?
How can he expect us to go along with him on this? He's spent 5 years telling us everything Bush did was wrong and so he's going to do what Bush did now because its the right thing to do?
Good post!

<quoted text>"us"??? He's playing you 'tards like a fiddle! He knows you 'tards would be against him if he came out AGAINST the summary beatings and executions of teapublicans. So, all he has to do to NOT get war in Syria is ask congress to do it. Suckers!
You really love that Bush guy! That says it all.
Hiya, Rusty!

Ah, the old reverse psychology trick, eh? Then why are all the Liberals bailing on The Smartest President Ever, too?

If Congress votes to do nothing....let's get serious about reigning in this military spending, eh? No need for a global military presence if it's to be impotent.....We could save trillions, and immediately....

<quoted text>Dwight Eisenhower- the last great republican- warned us about the Military Industrial Complex. The MIC beast MUST be fed according to both sides of the aisle. We could cut the defense budget in half and still spend more than our next seven competitors combined and not skip a beat in keeping the country safe. There is no good reason to waste all that money.
Might be the perfect time to do it....who want's the beautiful, most expensive car in town, if they never let you drive it? And all those costly bases we have, scattered around the world....those little countries, will just have to get used to their people getting squashed occasionally....we have nothing to gain....

What in this event does the US stand to gain by striking empty military bases, destroying empty hangers, and cratering the runways that service the aircraft who are no longer in those hangers. We won't target Assad himself, the US does not assassinate heads of state. We have no clear military objective and should Assad fall we do not have a plan to assist what remains of the Free Syrian Army to win the power struggle that will erupt with the Islamic extremist groups whom they have been forced to ally themselves with.
At least in Libya there was an objective and a plan, we can all see how that is working out.
That's not entirely accurate.

The U.S. Has targeted heads of state in the middle east.
Look at what we did in Iran prior to the hostage crisis.

This is just a difficult decision.
Damned if we do ...damned if we don't.

what does the u.s. stand to gain??? since when does saving people from being exterminated have to have a monetary value to us?? you see someone drowning you try to help them... not walk away and say "oh, there's nothing to gain here... he'll be fine"

just saying

In this case the 'reward' would be
knowing that those ppl got to live a
full life, that the kids got the chance
to grow up.

That's reward enough.

i'm not for war... i'm for peace
but i'm also for humanity, and i DO have compassion for those less fortunate...
just because someone is different does not make them any less "human" than u or i...

Not an appropriate comparison. Syria will never become the military power that Germany was leading up to WWII.

good comparison , you only need a hand to open a valve, not an army .... it is the gas in question not the users

That's the thing with the MIC- they are a business. They need war to make their billions. This war on terror and arming the civilians here with semi-auto weapons just doesn't fill the offshore bank accounts like a Middle East war. With Iraq over and Afghanistan nearly over, they need something fresh.

Well here is where that all stops...if the Commander in Chief and the Senate aren't allowed to attack a rogue, genocidal, dictator like Al Assad....then we could cut the absolute sh*t outta MILITARY SPENDING.....Close those expensive overseas bases and just look inward....

Nazi war criminal Alois Brunner, former senior aide to Adolf Eichmann, may still be alive and hiding in Syria,

Syria had long refused entry to French investigators as well as to Nazi hunter Serge Klarsfeld

Nazi-hunters have welcomed a report affirming their long-held view that one of the most senior Nazis alive today is living in the Syrian ..

does it matter where she is from? the entire world is affected by these events. Britain was asked to be involved in military proceedings in Syria ... the entire UN and EU is discussing these matters.
