The problem is that many of the rebels are just as bad or worse than the regime. We are likely just going to replace one ahole with another ahole too. That area of the world has always been ruled by force. Toss Assad and you are most likely going to see a religious extremist group in power. At least Assad is secular. I just fail to see what we gain by getting involved.

You know what the difference between the Philadelphia zoo and the White House is right?

In Phili they have an African Lion and the White House has a lying African.

Yeah, I saw that on the news yesterday. Unfortunately, I think the Russians, while self serving, are right ... the rebels are largely religious extremists.

We need to understand that the idea that you are going to end up with some moderate group in power and a non-corrupt Jeffersonian Democracy that espouses Western values of secularism, rule by the majority, but respect, rights, and dignity for the minority is not even a possibility over there.

The whole rebellion was brought about because of protests calling for change, but I can guarantee you whoever winds up in power if Assad is tossed, isn't going to allow dissent or protests, either.

So, what's to be gained by getting involved?

Agreed, there is nothing about the situation in Syria that is a threat to the US, there is no benefit to the US should we topple Assad, and there is even less benefit to striking empty military airfield and bases. Barry, however, is a sneaky SoB and there must be something in it that benefits him that Americans are not seeing.

I don't think it's because he's sneaky ... it's because he opened his mouth and said it was a red line ... Assad called his bluff ... now his credibility and that of the U.S. is on the line. It still doesn't change the fact that from a policy standpoint he shouldn't have been so bold in the first place.

I was writing a post when 'some-how' I was rudely cut off-NSA-leave me alone!
Barry is simply a pawn in the world chess game for domance, control, and wealth. He is the puppet of his backers, a black
minority front for the real quest.
They have this =thing= planned right-down-to-the-end, and that's soon to come.
There'll be the poor and the rich and guess who'll govern?
Freedom will soon be a thing of the past and after you've lost it there's no getting it back - just look at other counties.

Do you even have a clue what a Jeffersonian Democracy entails, if you did you would have to come up from Barry's lap long enough to realize that he is not it. However, Barry might look more like one of Jefferson and Sally Hemmings children than Trayvon does to either of his.

Actually, I thought that Ms. Observer was Ferret, if not I do apologize. I still think Barry is much closer to Marx than Jefferson.

Do you have proof that this footage is faked? If so post it, otherwise your word is about as genuine as Kerry's Irish grandpappy.

IMHO if we're going to bomb something it should be Iran not Syria, the two have similar allies, so would it matter which pi$$ed them off worse?
Because either will!

Report: Obama ‘Vetoed’ Israeli Strike On Iran

President Barack Obama refused to let Israel strike Iran last year despite the Israeli prime minister’s willingness to sign off on such an attack, according to statements made by a former top Israeli military leader earlier this week.

Giora Eiland, a former national security adviser to the Israeli government and a retired Major General in the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), told the Israeli press that Obama “vetoed” the strike, which was planned to take place at the height of the 2012 election cycle.

“Israel has the capability to destroy the Iranian nuclear program” and was prepared to do so, Eiland was quoted as saying in a private meeting earlier this month, according to the Israeli paper Mida.

::@ least we'd have one ally by doing this and since 1/2 our military strength is in Israel
anyway it just seems cost effective.
