The systematic rape in many parts of Africa.
Rape is used as a weapon. A torture tactic.
And believe it or not it's not punished.
The men don't even fear reprisal.
And we're not just talking grown women

Rebel groups use rape as a way to enslave

Women are raped in front of their husbands/

It is a way to strike terror into the ppl.
To stop the men from fighting against the

I think this will only be stopped if the
world community gets involved. The U.N.
has been trying but this has been an ongoing
problem for decades w/o much improvement.
I heard of this, this is very sad that this is happening in 2013.
I agree, more effort needs to get involved to stop this terror.
Maybe an awareness ROCK conccert like LIVE AIDS would help somehow.

Agree

Anything that would shine light on the subject
would help. We don't understand b/c rapists are
prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

Any country that sees rape as a crime that does
not need prosecution should not receive any help
from us or our allies.

Our government putting pressure on their government
would probably be the quickest way to see positive
results.

The recent 'gang rape' of a student on a bus in the
presence of her boyfriend has indeed shone a light on
it happening with regularity in India, but not for the
same purpose as it obviously is in Africa, in India
it is not considered a crime if the female is of low caste...
but there was such a public outcry at the manner in which this young lady was treated, raped, beaten, by five men, then flung out of the bus to die....that possibly it could set a precedence for
such treament of women to be a serious crime.

One can only hope El, that the barbaric treatment of women in other countries will be given precedence and given the proper punishment it diserves.

My heart goes out to the baby murdered in Brunswick Georgia. He was shot right between the eyes in his stroller because two spawns demanded money from the mother and she said she did not have any. She took two bullets. I hope justice is served expediently, I hope it is swift and I hope they both get everything that is coming to them And then some.

BRUNSWICK, Ga.-- The mother of a baby shot dead in his stroller took one look at a teenage suspect's jailhouse mugshot Saturday and said he was definitely the killer. Yet an aunt of the teen said he was eating breakfast with her when the slaying took place.

Despite the conflicting stories, police have charged 17-year-old De'Marquise Elkins with murder, along with a 14-year-old suspect whose name has been withheld because he's a juvenile.

Brunswick police spokesman Todd Rhodes said even though Elkins' aunt provided an alibi, authorities have good reason to bring the charges.

"That's what she's saying, but the evidence we're looking at says something else," Rhodes said, though he would not elaborate.

Also Saturday, police in this coastal port city released 911 recordings from neighbors who sobbed and pleaded for help right after 13-month-old Antonio Santiago was shot in the head a few blocks from his mother's apartment.

Sherry West said she was pushing her baby in his stroller as she walked home from the post office Thursday morning. She said a teenager, with a younger boy behind him, approached and asked her for money. West said when she told him she had no money, the teen drew a gun and said: "Do you want me to kill your baby?"

The gunman opened fire and West was shot in the leg, while another bullet grazed her left ear, she said. She watched helplessly as the gunman shot her son in the face, she said.

Vee...this was reported on Sky News the following morning.
You get so that you think you are unshockable, but this beats
all. My heart goes out to the mother, accordingly she had already
lost a teenage son in a stabbing as far back as 2008.
In my opinion, the aunt who is covering for her nephew should be
jailed also, althopugh perhaps she is doing it under duress.

Dreadful case, beyond words really,

his actions ...
all for the sake of a few shillings that would
be swiftly spent next day anyway, a little child's life and all
her potential.. sent to oblivion..

So very sad AND bad .... that a 17 yr old
has 'already' been so molded and brainwashed at such a
very
early age,

..

but if his own aunt cannot see the enormity off
'her' crime in shielding him..
can we be surprised!

Bill Roache, who played
KEN BARLOW
In a very popular UK soap
Which has been running for many many years,
Has just been accused of.. as
Having raped a girl when she was 15..
He is now 81 yrs old.
One wonders why and how it took this long
for someone to come forward to complain about this..
I am not standing up for a rapist...
But, it must be kept in mind
Many many years have gone by since this took place,
and what stands as 'rape' nowadays was known
As 'sexual intercourse between two'
back then 'in the 60's and the age law wasn't recognised either.
Is it fair that someone should come out now with this accusation...
when she remained silent for over 40 years?
How can anything about it be proved at THIS stage?

Well of course one factor for doing so which springs to mind is compensation, but then again, the alleged victim may have well
taken courage from those coming forward in regard to the Savile
events, possibly not being aware previously that it is never too
late to lodge a complaint in view of something of this nature.
By naming Bill Roache, it would appear that the CPS (Crown Prosecution Service) consider there are sufficient grounds for complaint.
I don't fully understand your statement Grace, that back in the 60's this would have been considered sexual intercourse between two.
I would have thought Rape is Rape no matter what title it was given.

Breaking news is that another elderly 'celeb'...Stuart Hall, has
admitted he sexually assaulted young girls.

Good point El, indeed it's all happening
At the mo!!!
what with Max Clifford-Stuart Hall and now this
With bill Roache, altho'
He has denied it emphatically..
As did Max..

Hard to get any proof at such a late stage,
Seems one person's word against the other.

Sorry I explained the other business badly,
What I meant was,
One time when a male and female
had sex, that was one thing,
But more recently it was ruled that if a man ever
Has/had sex with anyone under 18
Even with mutual consent
It would now always be regarded as rape.

Feel sorry for those who will be wrongly
blackened,
It's a stain that sticks forever.

I'm with you now Grace, sorry I didn't pick up on that.
I was actually shocked to hear of Stuart Hall, shocked,
especially since one of the girls was only nine.
All I can say is, if all these old fellows are guilty,
then it will be much harder to serve their sentence,
if sentenced of course, than it would have been when younger.
After all, the girls will have suffered a lifetime.
So that is two 'up' for questioning from Corrie. Both
suspended from filming until the matter is sorted.
Older people such as my M-I-L would have been horrified, they
loved this show and the characters were almost family.

Never got into 'Corrie' myself but II know it
Is *hugely* popular and has endless truly devoted followers.

Feeling sorry for ALL of them.

I don't readily condemn these men
( like, what do I know about it!)

Will wait 'til they have had a fair trial -
the least they deserve!

LONDON — British police say they are investigating new leads in the case of Madeleine McCann, the Briton who disappeared six years ago in Portugal at the age of three.

Scotland Yard said it has identified several "persons of interest" and "both investigative and forensic opportunities" in the case. The force said Friday its work is under way to support police in Portugal, even though they have closed their investigation into the disappearance.

McCann vanished from her family's vacation home in Portugal's Algarve region on May 3, 2007, days before her fourth birthday. The case has generated intense media interest in Britain.

British police launched Operation Grange in 2011, to try to solve the puzzle.

Detective Chief Superintendent Hamish Campbell said Friday officers have been encouraged by the progress made so far.

Now that I am over the initial shock, I wanted to post this. To make a long story short, a 56 year old man was inside the store when he suddenly befriended the mother. He then asked if he could take her daughter for a snack and she said YES. Off they went. This is the result.*********

Cherish Perrywinkle, 8, found dead Saturday, Jacksonville sex offender arrested

Posted: June 22, 2013 - 4:53am | Updated: June 23, 2013 - 4:44pm
7 p.m. Friday (Dollar General): Jacksonville police say Cherish Perriwinkle’s mother met Donald James Smith, 56, at Dollar General.

11 p.m. Friday (Walmart Supercenter): Cherish’s mother reports the 8-year-old girl missing to police. Authorities say the mother and Donald James Smith went to Walmart after Smith offered to buy the family some clothes.(NOT ACURATE)

Cherish Perrywinkle, 8, was abducted at a Walmart Friday night and later killed. Police have arrested Donald J. Smith, 56, in her slaying. Smith is a registered sex offender who was just released from jail on May 31.

The mother could not be reached to comment. The father declined to comment when reached at a neighbor's home in Campo, Calif., near San Diego.

3 p.m.: The man charged in the killing of 8-year-old Cherish Perrywinkle had just been released from jail May 31.

Cherish was reported as being abducted Friday night from the Walmart on Lem Turner Road. Her body was found Saturday morning in a wooded area off Broward Road.

Smith offered to buy food and clothes for Perrywinkle's family at the nearby Walmart, Williams said. The family was in the Walmart for a couple of hours, he said.

The mother agreed to let Cherish go with Smith to the McDonald's inside the Walmart. The two did not return and the mother called police.

Williams said Smith was "compliant" when pulled over on Interstate 95, but has refused to answer questions.

Within a short period of the stop, police received a call about a suspicious van in the 2100 block of Broward Road. Police began searching a wooded area there with K-9 units and found the victim's body.

Perrywinkle's mother is doing "as good as can be expected."

10:23 a.m.: The body of an 8-year-old girl who went missing Friday night has been found at a

Perrywinkle was reported missing about 11 p.m. Friday by her mother at the Walmart Supercenter at 12100 Lem Turner Road.

Police spokesman Shannon Hartley said during a 9:30 a.m. news conference that Donald James Smith, 56, was in custody after officers surrounded a white van on southbound Interstate 95 near the Interstate 10 split. Hartley didn't know if Smith was armed when taken into custody. He has several previous arrests involving lewd behavior with children.
Sgt. Lonnie Mills of the Sheriff’s Office said earlier that Cherish was taken by a man who had befriended the girl's mother at the store and said he was taking the girl to the store’s McDonald’s located at the front for a snack.

Smith, was last arrested in 2009 where he was accused of impersonating a Department of Children and Services officer and making obscene and threatening calls to a 9-year-old girl.

He had asked questions about whether she wore a bra and what her privates looked like. Then he told the grandmother the child's father and grandfather were suspected of molesting her and that if she told anyone of their conversation she could go to jail.

He demanded she bring the girl to a McDonald's so he could examine her. She did so, but went inside instead of waiting in the parking lot as instructed. The man did not appear. The mother later gave police the man's phone number and traced it to Smith.

Smith also served prison time for attempted kidnapping and lewd and lascivious assault on children. The first time he attempted to lure a 13-year-old girl into his van and chased her as she ran away. The second time involved Smith trying to lure two girls into his van with pornographic magazines,

Dreadful case really Vee,
very interesting to read -

laws seriously need changing.
and anyone who offends in
this way or has a previous record
should be treated very rigorously ..

it was the same in this link..

The rapist Bayely had been OUT on bail!
having raped so many times previously,
when he raped and murdered his victim,

details in the link.>
