Butler University will use a $2.9 million federal grant to create sites along six Indianapolis waterways that will use the arts to educate the public about the city's water system.
Butler's Center for Urban Ecology Director Tim Carter tells the Indianapolis Business Journal that the center will use the city itself as a learning environment. He says the six sites will feature activities such as dance, music and poetry that will interpret scientific content.
Carter says the museum will focus on six waterways and adjacent neighborhoods. The six waterways are the White River, Fall Creek, Central Canal, Eagle Creek, Pleasant Run and Pogue's Run.
The National Science Foundation awarded the four-year grant.
-----
Can't keep the Whitehouse open for tours but by gum, we can blow $2.9 million on dance, music and poetry displays to crap-up the environment.

Funny how Obama supporters pick and choose which laws must be enforced. What's even funnier is that it's always the ones they like!

Rite. The republicans havenít voted to shut down the government. Theyíve voted to fund everything except for one part of it Ö Obamacare. Obama is the one who is threatening to shut down everything, unless he gets his Obamacare funded. He's going to punish everyone, unless the bottom feeders of society get yet another handout.

Yeah, ask them about government shutdown. Oh wait, folk have been asked ... the Republicans will get the blame.
Not by the folks who matter, which are the folks in their districts. Even with a shut down, they will still retain control the house after midterm elections. Why the heck should a republican House member from NC care what a national poll says? His primary concern should be doing what he feels is right and what is popular in his district, not what is popular in national polls that are influenced by liberal bastions like California and the North East.

Not true. Poll after poll shows the majority of Americans are against it.

From ABC News (a well known bastion of liberalism) "On the law itself, moreover, 52 percent are opposed, vs. 42 percent in support; in 16 ABC-Post polls since August 2009, it has never received majority support." (Note "NEVER")

From Fox News, "The poll also finds a 54-percent majority wants to go back to the health care system that was in place in 2009. About a third -- 35 percent -- thinks it would be better to leave the new law in place."

From CNN, "A new poll released today from CNN shows public support for Obamacare plummeting below 40 percent, a significant drop that comes as Congress considers defunding the unfair, unworkable and unaffordable health-care law."

Even Rasmussen reports in poll after poll, the majority of Americans think the law is a bad idea and are not in agreement with it.

And for the record, the people never said yes to it. We never got a chance to vote on it. If we did, we wouldn't be having this discussion now.

Funnier still that Obama has allowed hundreds of his business cronies off the hook by allowing them to be exempt from Obamacare. Also funny that after adamantly declaring that he and Congress will be subject to Obamacare, they've now made it so they are exempt as well.

And sad that people are still lining up behind this hypocrite, POS.

BUT, you don't shut down the government in a cowardly attempt to change laws. Terrorists do that! The next thing might be you people shutting down the government to bring slavery back. You'll talk about how fiscally responsible it is and how millions of Fox viewers want it and you'll think it's OK to hold hostage the SS checks of seniors, the paychecks of soldiers and the day to day operations of America, just because that's the only way you people know how to operate, until you get what you want. Americans will just have to get used to you 'attacking' when you don't get your way.

I agree. Maybe you should write Obama and democrats and tell them to stop being cowards.

Again, the republicans are not shutting down the government. They are funding the entirety of government, except Obamacare. If the government shuts down, it will be Obama and democrats who shut it down, because they canít get their way. Poor sports, I say!!
A noted observer wrote:

I donít think you have to worry about the democrats doing that. They lost that fight long ago. Besides, most black folks vote for the party that wanted to keep them in chains, ironically. From a democrat perspective it is probably much better to have their votes than make them slaves.

As wrong as it is, thatís exactly what Obama is doing. No checks for seniors, no paychecks for soldiers, n money for day to day operations of America, until Obama and democrats get what they want, i.e. Obamacare funded. You are learning!

You really need to wean yourself from whatever hallucinatoy 'juice' you're spiking your Tea with. Your depth of thinking will improve with a concurrent amount of decrease in 'leaping'.

"Liberals" like the Senators and Representative from the midwest and other regions from the same party as that small-focused provincial Representative from N.C.? When the Tea Party causes so much disfunction to a point, coalitons of Reps. and Dems. will get something done; because they want to be re-elected too, and win in 2016.

These gerry-mandered safe Rep. districts with insignificant minority voting numbers are only "so" good and safe. Senators are a state-wide seat, you know.

That slate article should have led off with the article with the following expression:

"It is my opinion that:"

Doesn't matter how Senators are elected. The house is pretty safely in republicans hands and will continue to be even after midterms, regardless of whether or not the democrats shut down the government because they can't get their way.

Also, outside of big cities, the midwest is not even close to a bastion for democrats. Once you get outside of the cities, folks lose the "I am not responsible for myself and my own actions" mindset and the "government owes it to me to take care of me" mindset.

The democrats bread and butter are the coasts and large cities with large populations folks who feel the government owes it to them to take care of them.
